Red Dead Redemption 2 has 37 built-in cheat phrases for Story Mode. The codes are the same on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox; only the button used to open the menu changes.
Save before using one. The moment a cheat is activated, saving is blocked and achievements or trophies stop unlocking for that session. Turning the cheat off does not restore them. Reload a clean save when you are finished.
How to enter cheats in RDR2
- Pause the game and open Settings.
- Open the Cheats prompt in the lower-right corner: Triangle on PlayStation, Y on Xbox, or the on-screen option on PC.
- Open text entry and type the phrase exactly. Capitalization does not matter, but punctuation does.
- Select the accepted phrase in the cheat list to activate it.
Eight cheats require a newspaper and enough story progress. If a correct phrase is rejected, check its requirement in the list below.

All 37 RDR2 cheat codes
Each entry gives the exact phrase, its effect, and the only extra requirement. “None” means the phrase can be entered as soon as the cheat menu is available.

Why an RDR2 cheat code is not working
Check punctuation
Phrases such as “Vanity. All is vanity” and “Would you be happier as a clown?” need their period or question mark. Capital letters are optional; punctuation is not.
Check the newspaper and story requirement
Owning a late newspaper does not unlock every gated phrase automatically. Your save must also be past the required mission, chapter, or Epilogue point.
Use Story Mode, not Red Dead Online
These are built-in Story Mode cheats. They do not work in Red Dead Online. Avoid third-party cheat software online because it can put the account at risk.
Create space for horse and vehicle spawns
If a horse, wagon, or coach does not appear, move away from buildings and try again on an open road or field.
RDR2 cheats FAQ
Do RDR2 cheats work on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox?
Yes. All three platforms use the same 37 phrases in Story Mode. The input used to open the Cheats screen is the only platform difference.
Can you save after using a cheat?
No. Saving remains blocked for that session once a cheat is activated. Reload a manual save made before activation to continue normal progress.
Do cheats disable trophies and achievements?
Yes. Trophies and achievements stop unlocking during the cheated session. Reload the clean save before returning to campaign progress.
Is there an invincibility or God mode cheat?
RDR2 does not include a true built-in invincibility phrase. “You flourish before you die” refills the three meters, while “You seek more than the world offers” refills and fortifies the cores after its newspaper requirement is met.
Which cheats are best to try first?
“Greed is now a virtue” adds $500, “You flourish before you die” refills the main meters, “Be greedy only for foresight” gives infinite Dead Eye, and “Run! Run! Run!” spawns a racehorse. Use them in a temporary session, then reload.
