Major Story Spoilers Below
This guide names characters who die during Red Dead Redemption 2 and reveals one of the final locations in the story. Finish the main campaign before reading further. The complete Graves checklist is designed for the epilogue, and none of its nine locations are missable.
Paying respects is not automatic when John reaches a grave. Walk close to the marker and hold the on-screen Inspect prompt until the short animation plays and the character's name appears. Hosea and Lenny are buried beside each other, but they count as two separate interactions.
Before Starting the Grave Route
- Finish the story: The full Graves category and every required site are available after the main campaign. Waiting avoids locked progress and keeps this search from spoiling later chapters.
- Wear a winter outfit: Jenny and Davey are near Colter, and the northern route stays in deep snow for a while.
- Check every interaction: Standing beside a grave is not enough. Hold Inspect and wait for the name to register before leaving.
- Use the Total Completion menu: Open Progress and Total Completion to check the Graves count. The game does not place nine permanent markers on the world map.
The route below begins in the far northwest and moves south through Ambarino, New Hanover, and Lemoyne. It avoids repeated cross-map rides and leaves the two easiest southern graves for the end.
Jenny Kirk and Davey Callander Near Colter
- 1. Jenny Kirk: Fast travel to Colter and follow the frozen stream north into Spider Gorge. At the fork, search the snowy clearing east of the water and below the mountain. Her grave sits near the treeline rather than inside Colter.
- 2. Davey Callander: Return to the abandoned settlement and find the ruined church. Walk behind it into the small graveyard; Davey's marker stands a little beyond the older weathered graves.
These two sites belong in the same trip. Jenny's grave is the harder one because the snow hides the low marker and Spider Gorge has few obvious structures. Stay beside the eastern bank, use the fork in the stream as the main landmark, and scan the clearing on foot.
Davey's grave is much simpler once the church is visible. Make sure the Inspect prompt names Davey rather than one of the surrounding markers before starting the ride east.
Eagle Flies and Arthur Morgan in Eastern Ambarino
- 3. Eagle Flies: Ride north of Bacchus Station and west of Donner Falls. Climb to the clearing on the cliff overlooking the waterfall. The grave is a stone mound marked by a branch and a hanging piece of cloth.
- 4. Arthur Morgan: Start at the Mysterious Hill Home northeast of Bacchus Station. Go behind the unusual house and climb the grassy side of the mountain. Arthur's grave is on the high ridge with a wide view over the valley.
The two eastern Ambarino graves are close on the map but separated by steep terrain. Visit Eagle Flies first from the road near Donner Falls, then approach Arthur's ridge from the Mysterious Hill Home. Trying to ride directly across every cliff usually takes longer than returning to the lower trail.
Arthur's Honor changes the grave. High Honor leaves a clean marker surrounded by flowers, with an eagle nearby. Low Honor produces a rougher, flowerless grave and a coyote. The location and Paying Respects credit remain the same in either version.
Susan Grimshaw, Hosea Matthews, and Lenny Summers
- 5. Susan Grimshaw: Ride southwest of Elysian Pool and find the steep hill near the railway, between the V and E in the large New Hanover map lettering. Her grave sits at the top, overlooking the tracks and valley.
- 6. Hosea Matthews: Travel north from Saint Denis toward Bluewater Marsh. Before reaching the marsh border, leave the main road to the west and find the large tree in the wet ground. Hosea's grave is one of the two markers beneath it.
- 7. Lenny Summers: Inspect the second grave directly beside Hosea's. Lenny has his own prompt and must register separately even though both graves share the same location.
Susan's hill is easier to reach from the western side. Follow the gentler slope instead of climbing straight up from the railway. At the top, the grave stands near the edge and is visible from the open ground.
For Hosea and Lenny, use the road from Saint Denis as the anchor. Their tree is west of the road and east of Lagras, on the southern side of Bluewater Marsh. Do not leave after the first animation. Move to the other marker and inspect it until the second name appears.
Kieran Duffy and Sean MacGuire in Lemoyne
- 8. Kieran Duffy: Ride east of Braithwaite Manor and continue past the church ruins at Bolger Glade. Search the open meadow east of the ruins, near the treeline. The grave stands alone in a shallow dip.
- 9. Sean MacGuire: Go north of the old Clemens Point camp and northwest of Rhodes. Follow the path toward Flat Iron Lake, then climb the small wooded hill. Sean's grave overlooks the water from beneath the trees.
Kieran's marker is in open land and is usually visible once John enters the correct meadow. Sean's is partly hidden by trees, but the view of Flat Iron Lake makes the ridge easy to confirm. If the water is not visible from the hill, move farther west toward the shoreline.
The Paying Respects trophy or achievement should unlock after the ninth successful interaction. If it does not, return to the shared Hosea and Lenny site first; inspecting one grave and assuming both counted is the most common mistake on this route.
What Counts Toward 100 Percent
All nine graves are required by the Total Completion checklist. They can be visited in any order, and none disappear after the epilogue begins. The tracker only cares that every named grave has been inspected.
There is no item reward to collect afterward. The trophy, completion credit, and the quiet visits are the point. For players finishing everything, the Graves route is short compared with Exotics or Hunting Requests, but it lands differently because every marker belongs to someone the story asked you to know.
