Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, Override, launched on August 20, 2026. Its Battle Pass ends November 1, 2026, Eastern Time. Sonic is confirmed in the pass; Green Hill Zone, Overrides and the Sprite Garden are part of the season.
This guide covers the season overview and pass. For the specific quest, use our step-by-step Console guide below. You do not need to wait for the old August launch countdown.
Fortnite Override dates and Battle Pass price
- Launch: August 20, 2026.
- Battle Pass deadline: November 1, 2026, Eastern Time.
- Pass access: 800 V-Bucks or Fortnite Crew.
- Pass rewards: up to 800 V-Bucks through progression.
The deadline is not an exact server-shutdown time. Check any maintenance notice near the season change before planning a last-minute session.
Is Sonic in the Override Battle Pass?
Yes. The pass includes Sonic and the Tails Sidekick. Its outfit lineup also includes K1tty W1ns, Phantom, Grace Crowne, Geno, Mali, Wrixel and Bastian.

The Infiltrator Grace Crowne launch-week bonus required getting the pass before August 27 at 11:59 PM Eastern. That deadline has passed. Do not confuse it with the November pass deadline.
Battle Pass outfits and Item Shop collaborations are different purchases. A character appearing in season artwork does not mean that buying the pass unlocks that character.
Map changes, Sonic items and gaming crossovers
Green Hill Zone, Sonic’s Power Sneakers and the Tetris Rift are confirmed season additions. Mega Man’s Mega Buster and Midas’ Masterpiece pistol were also announced for launch.
The map update also introduced Stone Sanctum and Reality’s Reign. Sonic’s sneakers provide a grounded Spin Dash or an airborne Spin Attack; they are gameplay equipment, separate from wearing the Sonic outfit.

Epic announced Shop collaborations including Kingdom Hearts, Pac-Man, Mega Man, Persona 5 Royal, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro. These are no longer just leaks, but the announcement does not mean every item is on sale at once. Check the current Shop before spending V-Bucks.
The Kingdom Key and Rebecca’s Guns were announced for later in the season. The launch announcement alone does not establish their current availability or a release day.
How Overrides change a match
Override Consoles appear during matches. The first player to reach one chooses a modifier for the lobby. Rare Squad Overrides instead help one squad while revealing its location on the map.
For finding a Console, activating it and handling one another player has claimed, follow the Fortnite Override Console guide.
That guide focuses on the activation objective. Return here for the season dates, pass and wider crossover overview.
Sprites, the Sprite Garden and Loot Hacks
A new generation of Sprites is available in Battle Royale. Runners collections remain in the separate Sprite Garden mode, where players can share their collections with friends.
Cheat Codes free Sprite allies, while Sprite Dust buys Loot Hacks that change Chest drops. Keeping an old collection in the Garden is different from choosing bonuses for a Battle Royale match.
Ranked has different rules. Epic’s August 28 update removed Sprites from Ranked Battle Royale while their place in that mode was being evaluated. Do not assume the regular Battle Royale Sprite advice applies to Ranked.
Accounts, platforms and returning-player help
Owned Locker cosmetics remain connected to your Epic account across seasons. V-Bucks availability across systems follows the shared-wallet rules; seasonal Battle Pass progress is separate from owning an outfit.
Make sure the correct platform account is connected to your Epic account before the update. The Fortnite crossplay guide explains account links, friends, and shared progress across systems.
Use the normal Fortnite update on your supported platform. File sizes vary by system and installed content, so leave enough storage for the download rather than relying on another platform’s reported size.
The Fortnite game page has the main platform overview and all connected Pixel Twelve coverage.
If you are returning after a break, the Fortnite beginner guide explains the current basics without assuming you remember every system. The complete Fortnite guide hub connects the rest of our beginner and setup coverage.
