Final Fantasy VII Revelation could take up roughly 200GB when it launches next year. Director Naoki Hamaguchi said the team is still working out the final number, but he expects the game to land around that size.
It is an estimate, not a final storage requirement. Players should not clear 200GB today, but anyone planning to buy the game on April 8, 2027 should expect a large download.
Is Final Fantasy VII Revelation really 200GB?
Not officially. Hamaguchi said it will “probably” be around 200GB while development continues. Optimization, patches, platform packaging, and launch updates can all change the number before release.

The estimate is believable for a game built to close the remake trilogy on a much larger scale. Revelation includes travel aboard the Highwind, playable Cid and Vincent, and a planet-spanning final chapter. Large 4K assets, cinematics, voice files, and multiple platforms add to the storage pressure.
Why will the physical edition still need a download?
Square Enix says the PlayStation 5 and Xbox physical editions require additional data to be downloaded. The Nintendo Switch 2 version uses a Game-Key Card, needs an internet connection for installation, and lists at least 130GB of available storage. A boxed copy will not mean a complete offline install on those platforms.

When does Final Fantasy VII Revelation release?
Final Fantasy VII Revelation releases April 8, 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. It is the final chapter of the remake trilogy. Our release guide covers the editions and platforms, while our hands-on report covers the new playable characters and combat.
Square Enix will publish exact requirements closer to launch. The clearest numbers today are 130GB as the Switch 2 minimum and Hamaguchi’s estimate of about 200GB for the finished game.
