Big Walk has two late-game places where players can deposit the red and purple pieces found around the island. They look connected, but they do different jobs. The Black Tower advances the main journey. A separate green structure near the Map Room is tied to full completion.

This guide contains late-game spoilers. If your group only wants help with the purple pieces, the short answer is: save all seven purple pieces for the 15-slot green structure. Use spare red pieces at the Black Tower whenever the game allows it.

How to Open the Black Tower

Complete the five main tower areas first. These are the tower routes that unlock the Map Room, trains, chairlift, tunnels, and the other major ways to move around the island. After those areas are complete, the Black Tower opens between the Yellow Tower and the island's highest peak.

If one of the five areas is still closed, use our Big Walk tower walkthrough to check the Crosswalk, Map Room, trains, chairlift, and tunnels.

The Black Tower has six places for progression pieces. Post-launch player reports show that the tower can accept normal red pieces, even though some groups reached it while carrying purple ones. Use red pieces here first. Purple pieces are harder to replace during the same session and are needed together later.

Where the Purple Pieces Go

There are seven purple pieces. They belong at a green completion structure near the Map Room. The structure has 15 open places: seven for the purple set and eight for spare red pieces that were not used at the main towers.

Do not confuse this structure with the Green Tower from the main route. The completion structure is closer to the Map Room and acts as a late-game collection check. If your group sees 15 empty spaces, you are at the correct place.

How to Move the Pieces Without Losing Track

Place the pieces in one visible area before the final trip. Count seven purple and eight red before anyone starts carrying them away. This prevents one player from taking a needed piece to a different tower while the rest of the group is still collecting.

Mark the Map Room as the meeting point and send pairs along different routes. One player can carry a backpack while the other watches for dropped pieces and keeps communication open. If a piece rolls downhill or falls near water, search the original route before restarting the session.

What to Do If You Used Purple Pieces at the Black Tower

You are not permanently locked out. Progression pieces return when the host reloads the world, although they may return to the places where the group originally found them. Check the purple-piece locations again, then carry the full set to the green structure.

Use backpacks and hip bags to move more pieces at once. A group can also divide the route and have each player carry one or two. Keep the host in the session until every piece has been placed, because the host owns the shared save.

Our Big Walk backpack locations guide shows where to find carrying upgrades before the group starts collecting everything.

Black Tower and Purple Piece Checklist

Big Walk was released only a few days ago, so players are still documenting the late-game route. The six Black Tower slots and the seven-purple, eight-red completion set are consistent across current player reports. The guide will need an update if House House changes those requirements in a patch.
