Blighted will now launch in 2027. Drinkbox Studios announced the change in a new development update after previously targeting fall 2026. The studio did not give a month or exact date, but it says the extra time will be used to polish and tune the game before release.

The change applies to both confirmed versions: Nintendo Switch 2 and PC through Steam. Drinkbox also says another development update is planned before the end of 2026, while more release news will arrive in the new year.

“We feel we still need a bit more time to polish and tune the game before launch.”

The fall 2026 window is no longer active

Drinkbox announced the earlier fall window in a previous update that also confirmed the Nintendo Switch 2 edition. The new post replaces that plan with the broader 2027 window. There was never a specific day attached to the fall target, so there is no canceled date for players to move on their calendars.

The developer says its team has grown, but the current build still needs more work. That is the full reason given for the change. Drinkbox has not announced an early-access period, demo or new public playtest alongside the delay.

Blighted uses large, connected levels

The same update explains more about how the world is built. Players move through several large, interconnected areas while hunting the Memory Bandits. Each level contains secrets, permanent upgrades and a main target that leads to a boss fight.

Memory Trees act as checkpoints. Players can rest, improve their character, change equipment and use unlocked shortcuts to return to a tree. The trees also connect to Watcher’s Peak, the home camp where the last living Memory Tree can be strengthened with upgrade items.

Friendly characters met in the world can be invited back to Watcher’s Peak. They help improve weapons and other tools, while conversations reveal more about the setting and its people.

New abilities open old paths

Blighted follows a Metroidvania structure, so some routes are blocked until the player earns the right ability. Drinkbox gives examples such as gaps, fleshy doors and obstacles that can later be cleared with powers first learned for combat.

The studio says players can choose between levels at several points and leave one area to try another. Returning with more abilities can reveal rewards and alternate routes, giving later playthroughs room for a different path through the game.

Combat mixes fast arcade action with more demanding attacks that require careful timing. Players can dodge, parry, use a gun, spend mana and build toward powerful finishers. The Blight system also reacts to strong play by changing enemy behavior, player abilities and parts of the environment.

Where Blighted will be available

Blighted is confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 and PC in 2027. The Steam page lists solo and cooperative play, but Drinkbox has not announced other console versions or a more precise release date.

The Blighted game page keeps the current platforms, release window and game details together. The 2027 date should be treated as a window until Drinkbox announces a specific day.
