Free Fire MAX has enough guns that a simple ranked list can become misleading. The best close-range weapon is not the best choice across an open field, and a strong sniper does not help much when the final fight moves inside a small building. This OB54 tier list ranks weapons by the job they perform and how easy they are to use in real matches.
Garena changed four important weapons in OB54. The MP40 gained armor penetration, accuracy, and faster weapon switching. The M82B gained damage, armor penetration, and range. The M590 gained a longer headshot falloff range and faster switching, while the PARAFAL gained more armor penetration. All four were also moved to Gold rarity and made available through more Battle Royale sources.
Weapon Awakening can strengthen almost any primary weapon during the anniversary event, so a good pickup can become much stronger later in the match. The base weapon still matters. Choose something you can control before you spend time trying to upgrade it.
OB54 weapon tiers by range and role
S tier belongs to weapons that give a clear advantage in their intended range. The MP40 is the strongest close-range recommendation for most players after its OB54 buffs. The M82B is the best long-range option when you can hold distance, and the M590 is extremely dangerous in skilled hands when a fight happens at shotgun range.

- S tier: MP40 for close-range pressure, M82B for long-range control, and M590 for accurate shotgun players.
- A tier: PARAFAL for controlled mid-range shots, M1887 for experienced close-range players, and Woodpecker for accurate medium-to-long-range damage.
- B tier: AUG-II and MAG-7 as dependable alternatives, plus the Shield Gun when survival and utility matter more than direct damage.
The MP40 is easier to recommend than the M590 because automatic fire gives you more room to correct a missed opening shot. The M590 can end a close fight quickly, but its value drops when your aim is inconsistent or the enemy keeps enough distance. The M1887 remains a serious Clash Squad option and became cheaper in OB54, but it still expects confident movement and accurate shots.
The M82B received the largest group of direct statistical improvements: 6 percent more damage, 10 percent more armor penetration, and 20 percent more range. It can also pressure enemies behind Gloo Walls. The tradeoff is simple. A long-range weapon needs space, a steady aim, and a second gun that can protect you when someone closes the distance.
PARAFAL is a strong middle choice for players who prefer deliberate shots instead of a long spray. It will not replace the MP40 in a room or the M82B across a large open area, but it gives a squad useful damage without forcing one extreme range.
Build a loadout for two different distances
A complete loadout should handle at least two ranges. Pair an MP40 or shotgun with a PARAFAL, Woodpecker, or M82B. Carrying two close-range guns can feel powerful until a team holds you from a hill. Carrying two slow long-range weapons creates the opposite problem when a player rushes your building.

Battle Royale gives you more time to build a complete pair. OB54 added the MP40, PARAFAL, M590, and M82B to basic and upgraded Arsenals, increased their chance in high-tier loot areas, and expanded Vending Machine options. Check the landing area's loot tier before committing to an early fight, then replace weak weapons when safer sources become available.
Clash Squad adds an economy decision. The MP40 costs 400 CS Cash in the OB54 store, while the M1887 and Woodpecker received price reductions. PARAFAL and M590 became more expensive. A weapon is not a good purchase if buying it leaves the team without armor, utility, or a workable plan for the round.
Weapon Awakeners are available through upgraded Arsenals in Battle Royale, and surviving players receive one when only 10 players remain. In Clash Squad, Perk Points can unlock an Awakened Weapon later in the match. Awakening improves the weapon and normally gives it unlimited ammunition, but it does not correct poor range choice or missed shots.
Use Training Grounds to compare recoil, switching speed, and the distance where damage starts feeling unreliable. Ten minutes with the MP40, M590, PARAFAL, and M82B will tell you more about your own comfort than copying a list without testing it.
If your aim still feels inconsistent, set up the Free Fire MAX sensitivity and controls guide before changing weapons again. The Free Fire MAX rank push guide explains when to take fights during a Heroic climb.
For most players, the safest OB54 pair is an MP40 with a controlled mid-range gun. Players with strong shotgun aim can replace the MP40 with the M590 or M1887. Long-range specialists should build around the M82B and keep a fast second weapon ready.
