Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, 2026. Its two published beta windows have already ended: Early Access ran August 21–25, and the Open Beta ran August 28–September 1. Those test dates are separate from the full game’s release.
Early Access required a preorder or code. The Open Beta needed neither and added Nintendo Switch 2 alongside PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. An old beta code does not provide access outside those dates.
Modern Warfare 4 beta schedule
- Early Access: August 21 at 11 a.m. PT–August 25 at 10 a.m. PT — preorder or code required; PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and Battle.net.
- Open Beta: August 28 at 10 a.m. PT–September 1 at 10 a.m. PT — no preorder or code required; the same platforms plus Nintendo Switch 2.
Activision called these two beta weekends, although each spanned five calendar dates. Access depended on territory and platform; console online-multiplayer subscriptions could apply.
Early Access followed Call of Duty: NEXT
The first window began after the August 21 Call of Duty: NEXT broadcast. The final published start time was 11 a.m. PT, not midnight.
Digital platform-store preorders registered automatically. Physical preorders, some retailer orders, and giveaway winners used codes. Our Modern Warfare 4 beta code guide explains the completed redemption process and platform restrictions.
What was included in Early Access?
Weekend One included Multiplayer maps and modes, Kill Block, Search & Destroy, 3v3 skirmishes, 10v10 Gunfight, the Training Mobility Course, weapon progression, and the Entrenched campaign mission.
Our Modern Warfare 4 beta hub records the completed test, its rewards, and the content added for Weekend Two.
What changed in the Open Beta?
Nintendo Switch 2 joined during the August 28–September 1 open window, not Early Access. No preorder was needed for that test.
Weekend Two added Warzone Resurgence on Zodiac and Ground War maps. Entrenched was a preview mission, not access to the full campaign. Maps and modes rotated during the test.

The full game is scheduled for October 23, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The September 1 beta cutoff is not the game’s release date.
PC online modes require TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot. Those security requirements do not extend the beta’s availability.
