If you received a Modern Warfare 4 beta code, redeem it at callofduty.com/betaredeem while signed in to the Activision account you plan to use. The code registers you for Early Access. It does not give you the full game, and it does not automatically cover every platform linked to your account.

The process depends on where you bought Modern Warfare 4. Physical preorders and some retailer-sold digital preorders use a code. Digital preorders made through a platform store or the Call of Duty in-game store are registered for Early Access automatically.

Who gets a Modern Warfare 4 beta code?

Physical edition preorders from participating retailers include an Early Access code. Activision says it is usually printed on the receipt, included on a receipt insert, or sent in the email for an online order. If the code is missing or unreadable, contact the retailer that supplied it.

Some retailers sell a digital preorder with a code instead of registering the purchase directly through a platform store. Check the order email before assuming your purchase was registered automatically.

Promotions and giveaways can also provide Early Access codes. A giveaway code follows the same redemption process as a preorder code. It should never require you to give another person your Activision password or sign in on an unofficial site.

When you do not need a code

Digital preorders through the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Xbox on PC, Battle.net, Steam, or the Call of Duty in-game store do not need a separate beta code. Activision says those purchases include Early Access registration automatically. When the window opens, the beta download should appear through the relevant platform.

The Open Beta also does not require a preorder or code. Players who wait for Weekend Two can join from August 28 through September 1, including players on Nintendo Switch 2. Our Modern Warfare 4 beta hub has the complete schedule and content breakdown.

How to redeem your beta code

Use these steps for a physical preorder code, retailer code, promotion, or giveaway:

  • Go to callofduty.com/betaredeem.
  • Sign in to the Activision account you will use for the beta.
  • Enter the code exactly as it appears on the receipt, insert, or email. Activision says codes may be 10 or 13 characters.
  • Choose the platform where you want to use the beta token.
  • Submit the code and wait for the confirmation message.

Activision sends the Early Access beta token to the email address attached to the account close to the start of the beta. The redemption page also shows the selected platform after a successful registration, so check that status before August 21.

Choose the platform and region carefully

The redemption page asks you to select a platform, and Activision says one code produces one beta token for that choice. Decide whether you are starting on PS5, Xbox, or PC before submitting the form. The token is tied to the selected platform.

Xbox Play Anywhere provides access on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC when the game is bought through the Xbox ecosystem, but the beta-code registration still asks you to choose a platform. Read that selection screen rather than assuming the token will follow you everywhere.

The region selected on the redemption page must match the region on your platform account. Activision warns that a mismatch can produce a code the platform will not accept, which is especially easy to miss when a retailer sells in more than one country.

What to do if the code fails

First, make sure you are using an Early Access code rather than a platform download code or another promotion. Enter every character exactly as shown, and compare a blurry receipt with the order email if one exists.

If the page says the code has already been redeemed, check the beta status on the same page before trying another code. Activision says a successful registration displays the platform you selected. If a physical preorder code is lost, missing, or unreadable, contact the retailer that supplied it.

Do not pay a stranger to unlock a code, send anyone your Activision login, or enter the code on a site that is not an official Call of Duty or Activision page. A real beta code only needs the official redemption page and your own account. For the access options themselves, see our guide to getting into the Modern Warfare 4 beta early.
