Kena: Scars of Kosmora is now due in 2027, rather than 2026. Ember Lab announced the change on October 1, saying it needs more time to polish a sequel that is bigger than Kena: Bridge of Spirits. PS5 and PC are still the confirmed platforms; there is no exact release date yet.

Why Ember Lab is taking more time

In their joint development update, game writer Thomas Varga and studio COO Josh Grier said:

“Pushing our release into 2027 gives us the ability to really polish the expanded game experience we want to deliver.”

The sequel follows a more experienced Kena as she searches Kosmora for answers about the illness she has had since childhood. Her staff is broken there, forcing her to learn a form of Spirit Guiding that uses the elements. The February announcement trailer shows her new abilities and companion; its old 2026 release window has been replaced by today’s update.

The companion does more than carry Kena

The canine spirit is both a mount and a partner. It helps Kena fight while riding and on foot, and it helps solve Alchemystic puzzles. That gives the creature a role beyond getting across the larger island.

A larger adventure with temples to explore

Ember Lab still describes Scars of Kosmora as a linear, character-focused adventure. Its larger regions offer room to explore, but the studio has not announced an open-world game. Ancient temples act as dungeons, with challenges and rewards that help Kena progress.

The PS5 release will have physical and digital editions. PC will be digital. For now, 2027 is the release window to plan around.
