Marvel’s Wolverine players can now switch off several of the bright trails and audio markers that appear when Logan uses his Senses. Update 1.001.006 adds separate toggles for whisky-bottle scent trails, material-crate audio clues, and the roots that point toward Nightmare Doors.
Insomniac is not removing the entire guidance system. Clues required to advance the story will still appear, even when the optional discovery aids are disabled. The change is aimed at players who want to explore without the game drawing a path to every collectible.
What can players switch off?
The Accessibility menu now includes three new Senses options. Players can hide the visible scent leading to collectible whisky bottles, mute the extra directional help attached to material crates, and remove the roots used to locate Nightmare Doors.
Each option is independent, so a player can keep one type of clue while disabling the others. Mandatory story cues are protected from the setting, which should prevent players from accidentally hiding information needed to finish a mission.

Why did the scent trails annoy so many players?
The trails were hard to ignore. Activating Senses could cover the environment with bright lines leading directly to side discoveries, which some players felt turned exploration into following a marker. Others liked the system because heightened smell is one of Logan’s powers and the clues kept faster missions moving.
The complaint became part of the wider discussion around the game’s guidance and level design. Our Marvel’s Wolverine review praised the claw combat while finding the overall adventure less consistent, and our breakdown of the player backlash covers the other issues players have raised since launch.

Does the update solve the larger complaint?
It solves the visual part for anyone who simply wanted fewer lines on screen. It does not redesign the spaces, clues, or collectible placement underneath them. Players who believe the game relies too heavily on explicit direction are still asking for deeper changes than an on-and-off switch.
Insomniac first reduced the opacity of scent trails and audio indicators in Update 1.001.005. One day later, it delivered the requested toggles. That quick response gives players more control without taking the existing help away from anyone who needs or prefers it.
What else did the hotfix change?
Update 1.001.006 also addresses several smaller problems. It fixes crashes, a tree that could trap Logan during “The One That Got Away,” misaligned claws in Photo Mode, white objects appearing after long sessions, and an overlapping sign in the casino bathroom.
The scent-trail options are the change most players will notice. Logan’s Senses still work, but the game no longer insists that every optional clue has to stay visible.
