Wild West Pioneers launched in Steam Early Access on September 25, 2026. The PC game puts you in charge of a small frontier settlement, then lets you turn it into a network of towns. You build homes, gather materials, keep production running and send people out to explore.
It is a single-player city-builder from EmpireCraft Studios, published by Toplitz Productions. The story follows settlers looking for a better life during a gold rush, with a search for family running through the campaign. You can follow its quests or spend more time growing your towns at your own pace.
What is in Early Access now?
The current version includes several biomes, buildings that can be upgraded, individual settlers with jobs and a world map that connects multiple settlements. Towns need supplies rather than just more houses. Wood and other materials go into production chains, while families need food and services nearby.
You can assign people to different roles and watch how a household is doing. The official screenshots show a cabin panel with residents, nearby buildings and a satisfaction rating. That gives you a closer look at the people inside the town instead of treating them as a single population number.
Expeditions are already part of the game. You can send scouts to points of interest, discover places on the map and connect the towns you build. The map view makes it easier to see where another settlement might fit and how far your people need to travel.
What is still planned?
EmpireCraft says it expects Early Access to last about a year, but that is a plan rather than a fixed full-release date. The team lists more production chains, buildings, transportation options, random events and map variety among its goals. Those features should not be confused with what is already playable today.
The developers also say they replaced AI-generated assets with artwork made by their artists and recorded the voices again with actors. They want player feedback during Early Access and say it may change which ideas they work on first.
Wild West Pioneers is available on Steam for Windows PC. It has Steam achievements and Cloud support, and the store page lists it as single-player. If you prefer to wait for a finished version, there is no confirmed 1.0 date yet; the Early Access build is the one available now.
