Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is the newest Nintendo Switch Online Game Trial. Members in the US can download and play the full Switch game from September 24 at 10 a.m. PT until September 30 at 11:59 p.m. PT. You need a Nintendo Switch Online membership and a Nintendo Account. This is a time-limited trial of the full game, not a small demo.
The best part is that your save carries over if you buy the game. You can spend the week exploring Mount Qaf and decide later whether to keep playing. Nintendo says the digital edition is also 70% off in the Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Store until October 7 at 11:59 p.m. PT. The US Nintendo page lists it at $8.99, down from $29.99, but prices and availability can change by region.
What kind of game is it?
You play as Sargon, a young warrior searching Mount Qaf for the kidnapped Prince Ghassan. The Lost Crown is a side-scrolling action game with fights, wall jumps, traps and new routes that open as you gain powers. Some rooms ask you to time a series of jumps; others put you in a boss fight. If you like exploring a connected map and returning to places you could not reach earlier, this trial gives you enough time to see whether the game works for you.
Ubisoft Montpellier made the game. It first released in January 2024 for Switch, PlayStation, Xbox and PC. The Switch trial does not make the game permanently free, and it does not include the other platforms. Once the trial ends, you will need to purchase the game to continue playing.
How long do you have to play?
The Game Trial ends September 30 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Nintendo has not set a play-time cap during that window. The separate 70% digital sale lasts one more week, ending October 7 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Those are different deadlines, so you do not have to buy the game before the trial ends to get the advertised discount.
Nintendo also offers a My Nintendo mission worth 100 Platinum Points for members who try the Game Trial. The points require a Nintendo Account, and the offer is subject to its own terms. If you were already thinking about playing The Lost Crown, this is a low-pressure way to try its combat and movement before paying for it.
Where do you find the trial?
Open the game’s page in the Nintendo eShop on your Switch while signed in with an eligible Nintendo Switch Online account. The Game Trial option should appear during the offer window.
