Lords of the End Times is now available for Total War: Warhammer III, alongside the free Update 9.0. There are two separate parts to the release. The paid DLC adds four Legendary Lords and their units. The game update adds Neferata, changes to existing factions, new endgame events and many fixes without charging for that patch.
Creative Assembly sells the four lords separately or as a bundle. You can choose Nagash, Thanquol, Boris Todbringer or the Glottkin rather than buying all four. The bundle has a listed 15% discount compared with the separate items, although the price you see depends on your store region.
What is in the paid DLC?
Nagash is built around necromancy and collecting power. His campaign uses necropolises and the Black Pyramid, and his army can draw on several undead rosters. Thanquol uses Skaven Masterplans that can bring military, magical or economic results. Boris Todbringer focuses on rebuilding the Great Temple of Ulric and defending the Empire. The Glottkin bring Nurgle-themed corruption and recruitment hubs called Gardens of Corruption.
The complete bundle lists four Legendary Lords, eight Legendary Heroes, five additional lords and heroes, 23 battle units and 12 Regiments of Renown. Those additions belong to the paid content. You do not need to buy every lord if one campaign is the only one you want to play.
What does Update 9.0 add for free?
Neferata is the free new Legendary Lord. Creative Assembly has also reworked the Vampire Counts. Raise Dead is now their main recruitment method, with a new Corpses resource for many units and Blood for stronger ones. Vampire Lairs offer a new way to develop Vampire Lords before recruiting them.
The free update also gives Archaon more ways to bring Chaos Legendary Lords under his control. New endgame challenges include Chaos Invasion, Vermintide and Nagash Rises. Other changes cover victory conditions, campaign behavior and battle maps, including Middenheim, Black Pyramid and Nagashizzar.
Do you need to own Warhammer III to play Immortal Empires?
Creative Assembly and the live Steam bundle page say buying any one of the four new DLC items grants access to Immortal Empires even without owning a previous Total War: Warhammer game. That makes the individual lord packs a new entry point. Check the store page for your platform and region before buying, since the bundle and individual items are separate purchases.
