Marvel's Wolverine is a single-player, narrative-driven action-adventure from Insomniac Games, Marvel Games, and Sony Interactive Entertainment. The original story follows James "Logan" Howlett three years after he left Team X. Bolivar Trask's campaign against mutantkind pulls Logan back into the fight alongside Jean Grey and other Team X members, with enemies including the Reavers, Omega Red, and Lady Deathstrike.
The story moves through locations including Canada, Tokyo, and the fictional Marvel island nation of Madripoor. Insomniac is building focused mission areas rather than one open world, with close combat, traversal, investigation, large action sequences, and optional detours.
Combat emphasizes aggressive momentum with claws, kicks, barrages, critical strikes, and four equipable rechargeable Special Techniques. Dozens of Adaptations can improve bullet resistance, Rage, parry timing, or fear effects. Rage has three tiers built around survivability, resilience, and fury.
Optional activities include Nightmare Doors with combat and traversal challenges, collectible whisky bottles that reveal Logan's memories, and material crates used for suits. Unlockable looks draw from Weapon X, Old Man Logan, Ultimate Wolverine, Patch, movies, animation, and civilian outfits; additional claws include bone, notched, curved, reflective, and angled designs. New Game Plus, Mission Replay, Nightmare Challenges, and Photo Mode are available at launch, with Photo Mode delivered through a day-one update.
Marvel's Wolverine launches September 15, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and is enhanced for PlayStation 5 Pro. The ESRB rates it M for Mature 17+. Insomniac says it includes more than 100 accessibility features plus controls for dynamic blood, dismemberment, and English-language profanity. No PC version, campaign length, or DLC plan has been announced.
