Marvel Rivals changed every Team-Up in Season 9. Players no longer lose the whole ability when the partner is missing. The selected hero always receives the base effect, and the named partner unlocks a stronger version. You can switch the choice from spawn or the hero-select screen.

The system has 104 named Team-Ups. Deadpool creates 108 role-specific choices because his options behave differently in each role. This guide starts with the combinations that are easiest to use and those with the most value in coordinated matches.

This ranking was checked after the July 30 patch. Official balance notes take priority over community lists. S Tier means the base effect is useful and the partner adds a strong upgrade. C Tier means the ability is narrow, difficult to use, or missing its partner effect. It does not mean the choice can never work.

Best Marvel Rivals Team-Ups in Season 9

  • Ammo Overload, Punisher + Rocket: Punisher gets a fire-rate device, and Rocket adds infinite ammunition inside it. The effect is clear and useful at every skill level.
  • Wild Wall, Groot + Mantis: the wall heals nearby allies and grants bonus health. Mantis improves it after enough healing, giving a team simple protection around an objective.
  • Rocket Network, Peni Parker + Rocket: Peni's nest gains drones and armor packs. Rocket adds more healing, webs, mines, and B.R.B. support.
  • Gamma Maelstrom, Doctor Strange + Hulk: Strange charges Maelstrom faster and avoids its normal anti-heal penalty. Hulk helps him keep the charge.
  • Two-In-One, The Thing + Human Torch: Thing gains flaming attacks with splash damage. Human Torch can carry and slam him for a stun.
  • Mr. & Mrs. X, Rogue + Gambit: Rogue's attacks can explode and heal nearby allies. Gambit makes the empowered state permanent.
  • Chain of Cyttorak, Magik + Doctor Strange: Magik binds enemies to one area, making group damage and team ultimates easier to land.
  • Deep Wrath, Hela + Namor: eliminations create undead turrets. Namor adds more turret pressure during Hela's ultimate.
  • United Siblings, Invisible Woman + Human Torch: Sue shields an ally, heals nearby teammates, improves allied shots, and slows enemies crossing the shield.
  • Ragnarok Rebirth, Thor + Hela: Thor can survive lethal damage and earn a revive. Hela can activate that revive immediately.

B Tier: Savage Slam, Moonlit Slash, Dimensional Shortcut, Duality Dance, Cosmic Cyclone, Iron & Stone, Devilish Affair, Favorable Odds, Lucky Loan, Gods of Thunder, Stars Aligned, Blood Moon, Squirrel Missile, Timeless Veterans, First Family, Iced Out Diamond, Gumbo Chimichangas, Primal Punishment, Vibrant Vitality, Mammalian Bond, Luminous Moon, Magnetic Resonance, Flora Munitions, Fiery Sparks, SP//DR Sync, Prehistoric Trap, and Kumiho Palm.

C Tier: Star Blossom, Hel Tendrils, Allied Agents, Vibranium Mech, Fantastic Amplifier, Feline Alliance, Binding Ties, Senbonzakura Strike, Oblivion Shroud, Parker Power-Up, Chilling Charisma, Spirit Breaker, Loudmouth Mercs, Planet X Pals, Void Pentagram, Hex Fireworks, Flawless Design, Telekinetic Beatdown, and Asgardians of the Galaxy.

The Hood is not playable until Season 9.5. Magik, Cloak & Dagger, and Jubilee can select their Hood Team-Ups now and use the base effect, but the enhanced partner effect cannot activate yet. Hellfire Sparks still ranks well for its base value; Void Pentagram and Oblivion Shroud are harder to recommend before the partner arrives.

Best Team-Ups for Beginners

Punisher and Rocket is the easiest damage pair to understand. Groot and Mantis gives a team steady healing around a wall. Peni and Rocket adds automatic help around the nest. Namor and Hulk improves turret pressure without requiring a difficult combo. Jubilee and Blade creates a lifesteal area, and the July 11 update raised that lifesteal from 25% to 30%.

Thor and Hela is also useful while learning. The revive can save a failed push, although coordinated teams can get more from it by planning an elimination at the right time. Beginners should choose an effect they will use often instead of copying a high-rank list built around perfect communication.

Best Team-Ups for Ranked Teams

Rogue and Gambit's Mr. & Mrs. X is excellent when the team fights close to Rogue. The Thing and Human Torch can start a fight with damage, movement, and a stun. Magik and Doctor Strange can hold several enemies in one place for a coordinated attack. Invisible Woman and Human Torch helps a team hold a narrow entrance with protection, healing, and stronger projectiles.

Peni and Rocket remains one of the best objective combinations. Hela and Namor rewards eliminations with more pressure, while Venom and Phoenix gives a dive team extra damage through Spark explosions. These pairs become better when both players know when the enhanced effect is ready.

Do You Need the Partner?

No. The base effect works as soon as you select it. The partner does not need to choose a matching ability; the partner only needs to be on the team. If that hero is banned, switched, or missing, you keep the base effect and lose the enhancement. Return to spawn or hero select when you want to change Team-Ups.

The July 30 patch did not add another numerical balance pass. It fixed issues involving Ragnarok Rebirth, Rocket Network, Oblivion Shroud, and Jubilee. Team-Up rankings can move quickly after a balance update, so check the guide date before using the list for ranked picks.
