World of Warcraft: Midnight will close its major update cycle with Eclipse, patch 12.2, in early 2027. Blizzard revealed the update at BlizzCon 2026 and placed Xal’atath at the center of an eight-boss raid called the Worldcore.

Eclipse also opens a Titan-built zone, adds a three-boss dungeon, starts a new Delves season, and gives three more races access to the Paladin class. Blizzard has not announced an exact release date.

What is WoW Midnight: Eclipse?

Eclipse continues the story after March on Quel’Danas. Xal’atath escapes through the Darkwell with the Devouring Host and turns her attention toward Azeroth’s Worldsoul.

Players follow her into the Mantle Vault, an ancient Titan location that has been sealed for thousands of years. The zone contains the Gearhold, a new lair, and Radiant Screams, repeatable events that adjust to different group sizes. A new Radiant Core faction provides its own renown track and rewards.

What is inside the Worldcore raid?

The Worldcore is an eight-boss raid that ends with a direct confrontation against Xal’atath. Blizzard describes it as the central battle of the update, but the reveal does not say how the fight ends or what happens to her afterward.

Clearing the raid also begins the path to Midnight’s Edge, a caster dagger and the first legendary weapon tied to the Worldsoul Saga. The weapon comes through a questline that starts after players conquer the Worldcore. Blizzard has not yet detailed its abilities or the full upgrade process.

What else is coming in patch 12.2?

The update adds Thraegar’s Stand, a new three-boss dungeon. The Season 3 Mythic+ pool also brings back Magister’s Terrace, Maisara Cavern, The Underrot, Iron Docks, Sanguine Depths, The Stonecore, and Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr.

Delves move into Season 3 with Astalor Bloodsworn as the new nemesis. Blizzard’s official images show a large winged enemy surrounded by red energy, along with new Worldcore creatures built from stone and crystal.

Which races can become Paladins?

Night Elves, Forsaken, and Darkspear Trolls can become Paladins when Eclipse arrives. These are new class options, not separate allied races.

The Forsaken option is likely to start the most lore discussion because the class is so closely associated with the Light. Blizzard confirmed the combination at BlizzCon but has not explained how each race’s Paladins fit into the story. Their class introductions and visual details should become clearer before the update launches.

When will WoW Midnight: Eclipse launch?

Blizzard says Eclipse will arrive in early 2027. No day or month was announced during the BlizzCon reveal. It is the last major content update planned for Midnight, not the end of World of Warcraft or the Worldsoul Saga.

You can catch up on the game through our World of Warcraft page and follow the rest of the weekend’s announcements in our BlizzCon 2026 coverage.

Eclipse is a packed final patch for Midnight: a new zone, an eight-boss raid, another dungeon, a legendary dagger, and three unexpected Paladin options. The next useful update will be the release date and a closer look at the Worldcore encounters.
