Duskfade gives Zirian several ways to cross a level: jumping, double jumping, dodging, grinding rails, using the hook-shot, and gliding through longer gaps. The demo becomes much easier when you treat those moves as one connected system instead of separate buttons.

Button layouts can differ between PC and PlayStation 5, and the final console versions have not been checked yet. This guide uses action names so the instructions remain useful on either demo platform.

Start With the Double Jump

The second jump gives Zirian more height, but it is also useful for correcting a bad first jump. Do not press both jumps immediately every time. Hold the second jump until you can see whether you need more height, more distance, or a change in direction.

A dodge roll at the end of a jump can add a little more distance. Use it when the landing is just outside Zirian's normal reach. If the gap is much larger, stop and look for a rail, hook point, or gliding route instead of forcing the same jump again.

Read the Route Before You Move

Pause for a moment at the edge of a large room and move the camera. Rails and hook points often show the intended route more clearly from a wider angle. Check where a rail ends before jumping onto it, and look for the next landing while Zirian is still moving.

The expanded demo includes four biomes, so the same movement tool can appear in different surroundings. A dark mine may hide the next platform more easily than an open outdoor area. The developer improved visibility in dark sections, but using the camera still prevents unnecessary falls.

How Rail Grinding Works

Rails carry Zirian quickly across gaps and around parts of the level. Stay focused on what comes after the rail. Some routes end with a jump, while others lead toward another rail or a hook point. Jumping too early can remove the speed you need; waiting too long can carry you past the next route.

Use rails as part of a sequence: grind, jump, adjust with the second jump, then dodge or glide toward the landing. You do not need every move in every sequence. Choose the last action based on whether the platform is above, level with, or below Zirian.

Use the Hook-Shot in Chains

Arpeggio gives Zirian the hook-shot before the Mount Cinder section. Valid hook points are placed along specific routes. Aim for the first one, let it pull Zirian into position, then look for the next point before dropping too far.

Several hook points can be connected without returning to the ground. Keep the camera pointed toward the route and make one clear input at a time. Pressing several actions while the hook-shot is still pulling Zirian can send him away from the next point.

Glide When the Landing Is Below You

Gliding is useful when the next platform sits far away or lower than Zirian. Begin the glide after you have enough height, then make small direction changes. Sharp corrections near the landing can move Zirian past the platform.

A glide is not always the fastest option. If a rail or hook point already crosses the gap, use the route the level provides. Save gliding for distance control, long drops, and the final part of a movement chain.

Movement During Combat

Enemies can surround Zirian while he is trying to finish a combo. Jumping and dodging are part of combat, not only platforming. Leave a group, turn the camera, and re-enter from a direction where you can see the enemies. A short combo from a safe position is more useful than a long combo that gets interrupted.
