The latest Crazy Taxi: World Tour trailer, shown during Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show presentation, sends the series through streets where older neighborhoods sit beside a modern city. It is a location reveal, not a release-date announcement. The game is still planned for 2027.
The trailer gives the city its own personality. Taxis rush along broad roads, then cut through tighter streets with shops and pedestrians. Xbox says drivers can explore more freely, meet locals and collect souvenirs. The announcement does not identify every district by name, so the scenes are best enjoyed as a first look at the map rather than a complete tour.
What is new about the Japan location?
A Crazy Taxi city has to do more than look good in a paused screenshot. It needs corners, shortcuts and a sense that every second matters. Japan’s contrast between historic streets and bright contemporary avenues seems built for that rhythm. The video switches between daylight and nighttime views, showing how different a familiar route can feel when its surroundings change.
Xbox describes this location as one of five cities in World Tour’s campaign. It also says there are people to meet and souvenirs to find, which suggests that drivers can spend time with the world beyond individual fares. The publisher has not detailed how those encounters change the campaign, and the new trailer does not explain its progression system.
What else has Xbox confirmed?
The June reveal introduced Axel and the broader trip across five cities. Xbox announced online multiplayer racing, vehicle customization and a classic mode for players who want a more direct arcade experience. Those are announced features, not evidence that every mode will play exactly like the older games. The Japan trailer is most interested in the place drivers will inhabit.
The sight of a yellow cab weaving through a crowded city is an immediate reminder of the series’ appeal: the street is a puzzle you solve at speed. At the same time, the new emphasis on exploration means World Tour is trying to offer more than a succession of short rides. It will be interesting to see how the campaign balances those two instincts.
When can you play it?
Crazy Taxi: World Tour is targeting 2027 for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC, with Xbox Play Anywhere support. No exact day or month has been announced. The Tokyo Game Show update invites players to wishlist the game, but it does not narrow the window or confirm a release on other platforms.
For now, Japan is the headline. The new footage makes a strong case for a city worth learning turn by turn. The real test will be whether that city stays exciting once players have driven the same roads many times, and whether the new campaign leaves room for the frantic runs that made Crazy Taxi memorable.
