YAIBA: Samurai Legend Season 2 will premiere January 9, 2027, with the anime moving into the Kaguya Arc. The new main visual brings Yaiba Kurogane, Takeshi Onimaru and Kaguya together, setting up a conflict that is larger than the rivalry that drove the first season.
The series is produced by WIT Studio and adapts Gosho Aoyama’s manga. Season 2 begins after Yaiba’s return to Japan and his battles with Onimaru, but the arrival of an enemy from the Moon changes what both fighters are facing.
Kaguya wakes after 1,000 years
Kaguya is the ruler of the Moon. After sleeping for a millennium, she awakens with a plan to take control of Earth. Her fan gives her overwhelming power, and even Yaiba and Onimaru struggle to stand against her.
Tsukikage serves as Kaguya’s closest aide and commands her army. That turns the new arc into more than a one-on-one duel. Yaiba must face an organized invasion while still dealing with the rival who has pushed him since his return from the jungle.
The new visual suggests a three-way battle rather than an easy alliance. Yaiba and Onimaru may share an enemy, but neither character has forgotten their own fight or the power of the Thunder God and Wind God swords.
Yaiba and Onimaru enter a bigger fight
Yaiba grew up training in the jungle before returning to Japan and moving in with the Mine family. His energy and lack of restraint made ordinary life difficult, while his rivalry with Onimaru quickly pulled both boys toward supernatural weapons and dangerous transformations.
The Kaguya Arc expands that story beyond personal pride. A threat to the entire planet forces Yaiba to understand what his strength is for, while Onimaru has to decide whether defeating his rival still matters when Earth itself is at risk.
The second season can still keep the comedy and speed that define the show. The difference is scale: Moon warriors, armies and Kaguya’s power give the sword fights consequences that reach far beyond the Mine family home.
The cast and staff return
Minami Takayama voices Yaiba, with Manaka Iwami as Sayaka Mine and Yoshimasa Hosoya as Onimaru. Ami Koshimizu voices Kaguya, while Koki Uchiyama plays Tsukikage.
Takahiro Hasui directs the series at WIT Studio. Touko Machida handles series composition, and Yoshimichi Kameda serves as character designer and chief animation director.
Season 2 begins January 9, 2027. The official site has not yet published a complete episode count or an international streaming schedule for the new arc.
The date gives the anime a clear winter return, while the Kaguya material gives it a natural second-season escalation. Yaiba is no longer simply trying to beat the swordsman in front of him. He is being asked to defend an entire world he has only recently learned how to live in.
