VERTEX FORCE does not begin its opening with a battle. It begins with blue water, bright skies and ordinary life in Okinawa. The new creditless sequence, released September 18, lets those calm images breathe before the machines and fire take over. ClariS performs the opening song, “Synchro Blue.”
The original anime begins broadcasting in Japan on October 3, with Crunchyroll streaming the series as part of its fall lineup. The opening gives viewers a fast preview of both sides of the show: the Todo family’s everyday world and the science-fiction fight waiting to break into it.
Because this is a creditless version, the animation can be seen without the usual names covering the frame. Beach runs, meals and character portraits give way to burning structures, flying machines and a last burst of blue sky. The sequence makes the peaceful world feel worth missing once the danger arrives.
A family secret powers the story
Akira Todo lives in northern Okinawa with his older sister Haruka and their mother, who runs a café. Haruka inherited an ability called Engine from their father. Akira did not, leaving him frustrated that his sister is always the one protecting him. Then strange events begin happening around the world, and enemies move toward the family.
The conflict is not only about saving the world. It begins with a younger brother who believes he is the powerless one. The official story connects that insecurity to Haruka’s secret ability and to machines called ENIA, which appear throughout the opening in the sky and around burning industrial structures.
Who is making VERTEX FORCE?
Kazuhiro Takamura directs and handles the character designs, with Goro Kuji serving as assistant director. Takamura and Masashi Suzuki oversee the series composition. SMDE, whose CG work includes entries in the Shinkalion franchise, produces the animation. Kanetake Ebikawa contributes Engine designs, while JNTHED designs the ENIA machines.
Makoto Koichi voices Akira and Kaede Hondo voices Haruka. The announced cast also includes Ami Koshimizu as Eleanor Northbrook, Megumi Han as Lala Zudenstein, Rie Takahashi as Yoko Nishina, Kazuki Ura as Alan and Nana Mizuki as EDVA.
The opening footage avoids explaining every machine or enemy. Instead, it shows what the characters are trying to protect: beaches, family, food, drawings and a life that looks peaceful until it suddenly is not. That contrast gives the action weight before the first episode has even aired.
VERTEX FORCE premieres October 3 in Japan and is scheduled for Crunchyroll’s fall simulcast lineup. Regional timing and language options will depend on the service’s local schedule.
