Servant of the Lake releases on August 13, 2026. It is a new point-and-click puzzle game from Rusty Lake, the studio behind Cube Escape and Rusty Lake: Roots. You play a servant working inside the Vanderboom estate decades before the events of Roots.

Release Date and Platforms

Rusty Lake has not announced a PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch version. The confirmed launch is limited to PC and mobile devices. A console version could be announced later, but there is no official date or store page for one now.

How Much Does It Cost?

The US App Store lists Servant of the Lake at $4.99. Prices can be different in other countries because Apple and Google use regional pricing. The final Steam price was not shown on the official store page when this guide was checked on August 5, so do not assume the PC version will use the same number.

This is a premium game, not a free-to-play release. The Steam demo and Servant of the Lake Lite let you try part of the opening without paying. The full game is a separate purchase.

What Is Included in the Demo?

The demo introduces the servant, the estate, and Aldous Vanderboom's morning routine. You solve a chain of item puzzles involving breakfast, clothing, a clock, portraits, and several strange requests. There is also an optional hidden code that gives you an extra clue.

Progress from the demo has not been confirmed to carry into the full game. Treat it as a short preview and be ready to start again at release. The demo is still useful because it shows the controls, visual style, and type of puzzle design before you buy the game.

Mobile Requirements

On Apple devices, the US listing requires iOS 15.0 or later for iPhone and iPadOS 15.0 or later for iPad. It also lists support for Macs with an Apple M1 chip or newer running macOS 12.0 or later. The listed download size is 410.2 MB, although an update can change that number.

The Google Play page lists the Android version as a paid game and also links to Servant of the Lake Lite. Android compatibility depends on the phone or tablet connected to your Google account, so check the store page on the device you plan to use.

What to Check Before Launch

Steam users can add the game to a wishlist and install the demo now. Mobile players can open the official App Store or Google Play listing to check their regional price and device support. There is no announced preorder bonus, deluxe edition, or separate season pass, so the standard game is the only confirmed version.

What Kind of Game Is It?

Servant of the Lake is a single-player puzzle adventure. You explore rooms, collect objects, combine clues, prepare meals, wash clothes, clean the house, and help with unusual experiments. The official screenshots also show outdoor areas, including the estate grounds and gardens.

The story follows Aldous, William, and Alexandra Vanderboom through the eyes of their new servant. Rusty Lake says the game takes place decades before Rusty Lake: Roots. New players can begin here, while returning players will recognize the family and notice more of the connections.

Audio, Voices, and Languages

Victor Butzelaar composed the soundtrack. Rusty Lake has also confirmed voice performances for William, Alexandra, Aldous, the maid, and the coachman. The App Store currently lists English plus 20 additional languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese options.

Before release, the main choices are simple: play the free demo on Steam, try the Lite version on mobile, or wait for the full game on August 13. Check the store in your own region for the final price and device compatibility.
