When do the August PlayStation Plus games become available?
Sony lists Tuesday, August 4 as the start date. The announcement does not promise one universal unlock hour, so the store may update at different times across regions. If the July lineup still appears early in the day, check the PlayStation Plus section again after your regional PlayStation Store refresh.
On PS5, open PlayStation Plus from the Games home screen, choose the Benefits tab, and select Monthly Games. On PS4, open PlayStation Plus and choose Monthly Games, then use Add to Library. Sony also allows remote downloads through a browser or the PlayStation App, as explained in its official support guide.
Availability can differ by region, and Sony recommends checking the store on release day. The dates in this article follow the US PlayStation announcement.
Claim the July games before they leave
August 3 is the final listed day for July’s monthly games: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, For the King II, and CrossCode. If any of those interest you, add them to your library before the August rotation replaces them.
Adding a monthly game to your library is enough to preserve access after its claim window closes. Sony says claimed monthly games can be downloaded and played later as long as your PlayStation Plus membership remains active. If the membership expires, access pauses until you subscribe again.

Dying Light 2 is the biggest game in the lineup
Dying Light 2 is the obvious first pick for players who want a long campaign, open-world exploration, parkour, melee combat, and online co-op. You play as Aiden Caldwell in Villedor, a city where daytime scavenging and nighttime danger create very different rhythms.
The Reloaded Edition is more than the original 2022 build with a new label. Techland says it combines previous updates, visual and gameplay improvements, the Firearms Update, and the Bloody Ties story DLC. That makes the PS Plus version a more complete starting point than the launch edition many players remember.
Dying Light 2 supports up to four-player co-op, but it also works as a solo action RPG. Choose it first if you want the most hours for your subscription or need a larger game to carry you through August.
Big Walk is the day-one social game
Big Walk is the most current part of the lineup because it launches into PlayStation Plus on day one. It is a co-op adventure from House House, the studio behind Untitled Goose Game, with a focus on talking, solving problems together, exploring an open island, and finding silly ways to distract your friends.
This is not a traditional combat-heavy multiplayer game. Communication is part of the play itself, and some situations change how the group can stay in contact. It is the strongest August pick for a regular friend group that wants something relaxed and social.

Signalis is the focused horror choice
Signalis is the smallest-looking name in the lineup, but it may be the easiest recommendation for horror fans. The game follows Elster, a Replika technician searching for her lost partner through a surreal science-fiction nightmare. Its fixed viewpoints, limited resources, puzzles, and oppressive atmosphere draw from classic survival horror without feeling like a simple imitation.
Sony lists the PS4 version. Pick Signalis first if you want a tighter single-player experience instead of another huge map or a multiplayer commitment. It is also the game most likely to surprise someone who recognizes Dying Light 2 but has never looked closely at the other two names.

PlayStation Plus members also get a MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls pack starting August 6. It includes five profile avatars based on Captain America, Storm, Spider-Man, Doctor Doom, and Ghost Rider, plus result-screen poses for 20 playable characters.
This pack is not one of the three monthly games, and it does not include the fighting game itself. Sony says members must redeem and download the pack, while the poses require the PS5 version of MARVEL Tōkon. The pack remains available until August 6, 2027, so it has a much longer claim window than the monthly games.
