Shape of Dreams has arrived on consoles today. The fast, colorful roguelite is now playable on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox players can get in through Game Pass. It is not a bare-bones port: the new console releases arrive alongside The Starless Path, the game’s first-anniversary update and its largest expansion so far.
Developer Lizard Smoothie says more than 1.5 million people have played since the Steam launch a year ago. Console players get the improvements made during that year from their first run, including the new content. Online cross-play lets friends on different platforms play together, while the game can also be finished solo.
What kind of game is Shape of Dreams?
You choose one of nine Travelers and enter the Rapids, a dream world that changes every run. Fighting is quick and crowded, but the build system gives you room to experiment. Memories are abilities; Essences change how those abilities work. A hit that normally strikes one enemy might be turned into an attack that jumps between several, or one that comes back sooner when you land a blow.

There are more than 200 Memories and Essences to combine. That means the fun is not just finding a powerful item. It is seeing how a new drop changes the plan you had ten minutes ago. Each Traveler also starts with a choice of active and passive traits, so even the opening of a run is flexible.
Cetus gives teams a new way to survive
The Starless Path adds Cetus, a ranged fighter who uses frost to slow the action and protect allies. Lizard Smoothie describes him as a flexible tank: he can hold enemies in place and keep shields up, but players can build him for heavier damage too. In four-player co-op, one teammate can freeze a crowd while another turns that opening into a room-clearing attack. Nobody is locked to a single job.

There is more story — and a harder final fight
A new Way of Stars system connects each Traveler’s episodes across repeated runs. Play long enough and it opens hidden scenes, illustrations, a new ending and a tougher final boss. The update also gives players six Universal Identity Memories that can replace a Traveler’s usual passive trait. Existing bosses gain extra attacks at higher difficulties, so experienced Steam players have something new to solve as well.
The important detail for anyone starting today is that progress does not vanish when a run ends. A Traveler’s Constellation keeps growing, and the new stars make the next descent a little different. The console releases fold the update into the base experience rather than asking new players to catch up later.
