When can you start changing things?
Palia starts your home as an empty space and gives you more furniture recipes as your Furniture Making skill grows. You can begin placing items early, but a very detailed home takes gathering, crafting, and new recipes. If you like earning each part of a room, that process can be the point of playing.
Dreamlight Valley also opens decorating tools through progress. Its beginner guide says house expansion follows an early Scrooge McDuck quest. You can use the furniture you collect, then add rooms and change their size after the house upgrade. If you only want to design a finished Valley on day one, expect to spend time on quests first.
What about outfits and other players?
Palia lets you change several parts of your character’s appearance and visit other players’ designs. Dreamlight Valley has avatar clothing and its Touch of Magic tool for some custom clothing and furniture. Palia is online and lets you visit other players’ homes.
