TOEM 2 releases September 29, 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. The photo-adventure sequel also has a free demo on Steam right now. If you liked the first game’s small mysteries and black-and-white world, the new one keeps the camera but gives you more ways to move around and explore.
What is new in TOEM 2?
You can run, jump and climb through the new areas. Those moves matter because the sequel asks you to look for hidden paths and get a better angle on its photo puzzles. The camera is still the main tool: pictures help solve requests, reveal secrets and fill your collection. New camera attachments will also help you deal with problems in each region, according to developer Something We Made.
The story takes place a few years after the original. The studio says you will meet new characters who can join you and affect the ending. It has not explained every possible outcome, so it is too early to say how many endings there are. You do not need to have played the first game: the studio says TOEM 2 was made to welcome new players too.
How do photos and stamps work?
Taking a photo is more than a way to save a nice view. You use the camera to spot details, solve puzzles and document creatures. As you finish quests and discover new things, you earn stamps in your journal. The stamps unlock the next region. The official screenshots show a critter book and a camera view, so you can see how those systems look in play.
Something We Made also says the game has no time limits and no difficult requirements to reach full completion. You can take your time in each area instead of rushing through the requests. That is part of the point of TOEM, and the sequel is keeping it.
Where can you play it?
The confirmed launch platforms are PC via Steam, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. The developer’s website also links to Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo lists the Switch edition as compatible with Switch 2 and notes a corresponding version for owners, but warns that save data does not transfer between the two versions. Check the store page for the version you plan to use before buying.
On Steam, you can download the free demo before release. The store lists TOEM 2 as a single-player game and has not posted user reviews yet because it is not out. PlayStation lists a September 29 release at 1 p.m. UTC. There is no need to treat that exact clock time as a promise for every platform or region; use your own storefront for local availability.
