Gachiakuta: Breakout has finally put its action on screen. Xbox used its Tokyo Game Show broadcast to share a longer gameplay trailer for Com2uS’s adaptation of the anime. The name is new, too: the project previously went by Gachiakuta: The Game. Breakout is now set for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC in 2027.

The appeal is easy to see in the first combat scenes. The rough, graffiti-flavored world is rendered in bright cartoon-style 3D, while fights stay close to the camera. Red gauntlets flash across the screen, fighters dash through a wrecked arena and a later encounter fills the room with blue energy. It looks more like a game built around movement and striking at the right moment than a menu-driven anime tie-in.

What the trailer actually shows

Xbox calls the game a survival action RPG with a focus on melee combat. The footage backs up the second half of that description: we see direct attacks, character movement, enemy health bars and a longer fight against Jabber. It does not yet explain how exploration, progression or any survival systems work. A battle on screen is exciting; it is not proof of an entire feature list.

Fans of the series will recognize the contrast between its grim setting and its wildly expressive characters. Com2uS said when it first announced the adaptation that it wanted to carry the anime’s distinctive atmosphere into a survival action RPG. The new trailer is the clearest look yet at that promise, particularly in its character designs and the way attacks burst out of the gray environment.

Which platforms are confirmed?

The Tokyo Game Show announcement names Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC for 2027, with Xbox Play Anywhere support. That means one digital Xbox purchase can be used across eligible console and PC versions. Com2uS had previously named PlayStation 5 and Steam for the project under its working title, but this Xbox presentation does not provide a fresh release date for either of those versions. It also gives no day or month for the 2027 window.

There is still plenty we do not know. The trailer has no confirmed price, no full roster, and no explanation of whether the story follows the anime beat for beat or branches away from it. The visible footage is marked as work in progress. Treat any promised co-op mode, open world or specific combat system circulating online as speculation until Com2uS shows it.

For now, the headline is a tangible one: this is no longer just an adaptation announcement. Breakout has a name, a substantial gameplay sample and a 2027 target on Xbox and PC. The next reveal needs to tell players what they will do between these fights.
