Lina is looking for her parents. The strange part is that they have no idea she exists. In Faraday Blues, a newly revealed sci-fi adventure from Serenity Forge, she finds an old computer and a table of cards that let her revisit the moments that shaped their lives. Every time she changes the board, the family story can take another turn.

Serenity Forge founder and game director Zhenghua Yang introduced the game during Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show presentation on September 17. It is coming to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC in 2027, with cloud support. The studio also links to PlayStation and Steam listings, but it has not given those versions a separate date.

How do the cards change the story?

The 52-card deck is not built for combat. Its cards stand for people, memories and objects. You can place a character in a conversation or at an important event, then enter that version of the story to see what changes. Put someone outside a room at the right time, and a tragedy may never happen. Send that same person elsewhere, and they may miss a moment that mattered to somebody else.

That is the hook: you cannot make everyone happy simply by finding a winning card. A person can only be in one place at once. Saving one relationship might leave another character alone when they need help. The game lets you reset the board, keep what you learned and try a different arrangement.

Three eras, and consequences that follow you

Faraday Blues moves through three connected visual novels. Each era has its own art style and way of telling the story, but the choices are not sealed inside separate episodes. A changed relationship in the first era can reshape the second, and the third becomes a record of everything you did before it.

The team says there are 64 endings. That does not mean 64 neat happy outcomes. Yang describes an experience where fixing one event can produce a new loss somewhere else. Serenity Forge’s game page also mentions a hidden fourth timeline that opens under specific conditions, so there is more to uncover after the three main eras.

The people making Faraday Blues

Yang is making the game with co-creator and lead artist Satchely, known for character art on Doki Doki Literature Club, and narrative director Kevin Ye. Kris Wilson of Cyanide & Happiness is composing its music. Nichole Goodnight is among the voice performers, with more cast announcements still to come.

The early look is appealing because the cards have a human cost. You are not choosing a bigger attack or a better score. You are deciding who gets to be present for a family moment — and learning what can happen when somebody is missing.

When is it coming out?

Xbox says Faraday Blues is planned for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC and Xbox Cloud in 2027. No exact release day has been announced. Serenity Forge also points to PlayStation and Steam store pages; their timing should not be assumed to match the Xbox window until the studio confirms it.
