Ahare! Meisaku-kun will return with new episodes in January 2027. The school comedy is moving into a rerun period first, with earlier shorts filling the television schedule from October through December 2026.
The break does not mean the current revival is over. New stories are scheduled to begin again in January, continuing the series that returned to Japanese television in July after four years away.
Reruns will keep the same weekly slot
The 2026 season began on July 5 across six TV Tokyo network stations. Episodes air late Sunday from 24:45 to 24:50, a five-minute slot that suits the show’s quick jokes and storybook parodies.
During the next three months, viewers will get selected older episodes instead of a completely empty schedule. The new batch then begins in January 2027. An exact date for the first January short has not been announced.
The official YouTube channel remains an important way to watch the series. It continues to publish shorts for people outside the television broadcast area and gives international viewers a direct place to see the characters.
Daisuke Ono returned as Dasaku
The latest official short, released September 21, brings Daisuke Ono back as Metsuda Dasaku. The character is Meisaku’s rival, and the episode is called “Dasaku-kun Refuses School.”
Ono joked that modern entertainment is crowded with endless content. In a Pixel Twelve translation, he said Dasaku may be the winner because he can appreciate the stones mixed in with the gems. He added that the story was surprisingly deep.
Dasaku is not a new character created for this return. Ono first played him years ago, which makes the September short another connection between the revived series and its earlier seasons.
The same creative team continues
Taketo Shinkai directs the series, with character designs by JUN OSON and animation by Pie in the sky. The revival keeps the simple, colorful look that lets the jokes move quickly without losing the personalities of the main group.
Meisaku Matsuda is the ordinary student at the center of the chaos. His classmates include Sweets, Musubi, Nokio and Bolt, while Tsurukō and Mei add more voices to the current ensemble.
The announced cast includes Akihiko Nasu as Meisaku, Shigeki Nakanishi as Sweets, Manabu Kaneko as Musubi, Taiji Asuwa as Nokio and Kensho Ono as Bolt. Takuya Eguchi voices Tsurukō, and Masaki Sato voices Mei.

What happens next
October, November and December are the rerun period. January 2027 is the next new-episode window. The production has not announced how many fresh shorts will be included or how long the new run will last.
