World of Warcraft places millions of player-created heroes in Azeroth, a shared fantasy world shaped by the long conflict and alliances of the Warcraft series. Choosing a race and class determines a character’s abilities and starting perspective, while quests, exploration, equipment, professions, and combat drive long-term progression. Players can travel alone, join friends for dungeons and raids, compete in player-versus-player modes, or spend time on social and collection activities. Major expansions continue Azeroth’s story and add regions and systems to the modern game. WoW Classic runs alongside it as a separate way to revisit earlier versions and rulesets. Across both, the game’s identity comes from persistent characters, group challenges, and a world designed to be inhabited with other players.
