Blizzard finally gave “WoW Classic Plus” a real name. World of Warcraft: Forever launches November 4, 2026, with a beta starting September 17 for players who pre-purchase an eligible edition.

Forever starts from the original game’s level-60 foundation, then adds new stories, zones, dungeons, raids, and a playable race. It is not another trip through the same expansion schedule.

What is World of Warcraft: Forever?

World of Warcraft: Forever is a separate path built from early WoW. Players begin again in Azeroth, but Blizzard can now develop places and stories that were not part of the original 2004 release.

The level cap stays at 60 for this first version. Instead of raising it with an old expansion, Blizzard is filling gaps in the original map and telling stories that happen alongside the familiar events of Classic.

What new content does WoW: Forever add?

Blizzard’s BlizzCon presentation confirmed a much larger launch than a small seasonal experiment:

  • More than 1,000 quests.
  • Three new zones, plus updates to existing areas.
  • Nine new dungeons and two new raids.
  • The Skyborne Elves as a new playable race.
  • Additional race and class combinations, along with updated lighting and water.

Official screenshots also show Zephras, Mount Hyjal, Dalaran, Mulgore, new battleground areas, and several dungeon locations. Some are completely new, while others expand places that players already know.

Who are the Skyborne Elves?

The Skyborne Elves are the new playable race introduced for Forever. The gameplay trailer shows blue-skinned characters with several armor styles and customization options.

The new race is already drawing the most pushback in early fan discussions. Players keep asking why Blizzard used a new elf group instead of High Elves, Ogres, or another established Warcraft race. The beta will provide the first clear look at the Skyborne starting story, classes, and place in Azeroth.

When does the WoW: Forever beta start?

The beta begins September 17, 2026. Blizzard says access is included when players pre-purchase the Skyborne Epic Pack or the Warcraft Forever Collection. A public open-beta period has not been announced.

The full version launches November 4. Blizzard has not yet explained every access option or how progress from the beta will be handled, so players should not assume beta characters will carry into launch.

Is Forever replacing WoW Classic or the modern game?

No replacement was announced. Forever is a new branch beside the modern World of Warcraft and the existing Classic versions. Modern WoW is continuing through Midnight and the upcoming Last Titan expansion.

Forever is the clearest answer Blizzard has given to years of Classic Plus requests: keep the level-60 structure, but stop repeating the same history. The September 17 beta will show whether the new zones and systems still play like the version fans wanted to preserve.
