Warcraft III: Reforged has its first new campaign in more than 20 years, and players do not have to wait for it. Blizzard announced Forsaken Kingdom during BlizzCon 2026 and released it the same day.
The campaign adds more than 30 hours of story content set during the last days of Lordaeron. It also arrives with a free Definitive Edition update for anyone who already has access to Warcraft III: Reforged.
What is Warcraft III: Reforged — Forsaken Kingdom?
Forsaken Kingdom returns to Lordaeron as one city falls and the Undercity begins to take shape. Blizzard describes the campaign as a link between Warcraft III and the early days of World of Warcraft, with familiar characters joined by new heroes.
The gameplay trailer moves from Lordaeron’s royal halls to burning streets, underground ruins, and open battlefields. Human, Orc, and Undead forces all appear, while the story focuses on the events that created the Forsaken kingdom.
Is Forsaken Kingdom free?
Yes. Blizzard says Forsaken Kingdom and the Definitive Edition update are free for anyone who already owns or has access to Warcraft III: Reforged. New players still need access to the base game.
The Battle.net store lists Warcraft III: Reforged for Windows and macOS. It is also included with eligible Premium, PC, or Ultimate Game Pass memberships after the player links an Xbox account to Battle.net.
What changes in the Definitive Edition update?
Blizzard says the update improves performance and graphics, and the trailer confirms a new graphics mode for the Definitive Edition. Forsaken Kingdom also adds a neutral Forsaken Paladin hero to both the Standard and Definitive versions.
The new campaign is the main addition. More than 30 hours is close to the size of a full strategy game, not a short bonus chapter added to the menu.
Why is this Warcraft III’s biggest update in years?
Warcraft III: Reforged rebuilt Blizzard’s original strategy campaigns when it launched in 2020, but it did not continue the story with a new official campaign. Forsaken Kingdom is the first time Blizzard has added one in more than two decades.
It is not Warcraft IV. It is still a major return to the single-player strategy format that introduced many of the characters, factions, and conflicts later used in World of Warcraft.
What has Blizzard not explained?
Blizzard has not published a full mission list or explained whether Forsaken Kingdom will lead to more Warcraft III campaigns. The reveal also leaves practical questions about classic graphics, difficulty options, and future balance updates.
