MELTY BLOOD: TWI-LUMINA will launch on April 22, 2027. Aniplex announced the exact date during Aniplex One Focus and released a new trailer that shows Len, returning fighters and the first art for White Len.
The 2D fighter is coming to PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Steam. It renews TYPE LUMINA with revised battle mechanics and a new Kinoko Nasu story centered on Shiki Tohno.

When is MELTY BLOOD: TWI-LUMINA coming out?
Aniplex’s stated release date is Thursday, April 22, 2027. The official Steam news post and TYPE-MOON Games trailer description use that date, replacing the earlier early-2027 window still shown on the English product site.
The checked U.S. Steam storefront currently displays April 21. Steam and Aniplex have not published an exact unlock hour or explained the one-day local-store difference. The publisher announcement is the basis for the April 22 date used here, while players should expect their local storefront to show the time that applies to their region.
Price, preorder timing and edition details have not been announced. The new Steam page can be wishlisted, and Aniplex says more product information will follow.
Which platforms are confirmed?
All six listed platforms are confirmed for the new game: PS5, PS4, Switch 2, Switch, Xbox One and Steam. The announcement does not list a separate native Xbox Series X|S version.
Aniplex opened store pages for PlayStation, Xbox and Steam with the date announcement. The company has not confirmed physical console copies, cross-buy, cross-save or any upgrade path from MELTY BLOOD: TYPE LUMINA.
PC system requirements and platform-specific performance targets are also missing. The current Steam page lists Windows support but does not publish minimum or recommended hardware.
What is the new Shiki Tohno story?
Kinoko Nasu wrote a new main story centered on Shiki Tohno. The Steam description says players will move through Souya City and enter battles against different characters as the scenario advances.
Current screenshots show Shiki with Arcueid Brunestud on a city street and a route map with connected locations. That confirms a structured story path, but Aniplex has not announced its length, number of routes or whether every playable fighter receives separate story chapters.
TWI-LUMINA remains set in the world of Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon-. Aniplex describes it as a renewed TYPE LUMINA rather than a direct numbered sequel.
Len and White Len join the new footage
Len is one of the newly added playable characters. The store screenshots show her fighting Shiki Tohno and Mash Kyrielight, with cat-based movement and large blue attacks visible in the current footage.
The release-date trailer then displays a new-character card and ends on silver-haired art for White Len. Aniplex’s Japanese release material names White Len, while the current English product page has not yet added a full character list or profile.
The complete launch roster is still unconfirmed. Shiki, Arcueid, Ciel, Mash and Len appear in the new promotional material, but their appearance does not establish the final number of playable characters.
What changed in the battle system?
Aniplex promises refined battle mechanics, but it has not published a complete systems breakdown. The current footage keeps the fast movement, air attacks, long combos, defensive counters and large finishing moves associated with TYPE LUMINA.
The official store description says the existing TYPE LUMINA cast receives an upgrade. It does not yet explain balance changes, control revisions, new universal mechanics or whether older move lists will transfer without changes.
The screenshots are marked as development footage. Interface details, values and visual effects may change before release, so they should not be treated as final frame data or competitive balance information.
Single-player, local and online modes
The official pages list one to two players and online support. Steam also marks single-player, multiplayer, online PvP and shared-screen PvP.
Those labels confirm a main story and player-versus-player options, but they do not establish rollback netcode, cross-platform matchmaking, ranked rules, training tools, replay sharing or tournament settings. Aniplex has not announced a beta or public network test.
Tokyo Game Show 2026 will host the first playable public demo. The announced exhibition runs September 17–21 at the Aniplex and Happinet areas of Makuhari Messe, with September 19–21 open to the public.
How Souya City connects the fights
The current route-map image places Shiki beside an aerial view of Souya City and connects multiple locations with purple nodes. The Steam description says players navigate the city as the main story moves through battles against different characters.
Aniplex has not called the map an open world or free-roaming mode. The available evidence supports location selection inside the story, not unrestricted exploration.
No save-transfer details, route-selection rules or unlock conditions are available yet. The map confirms how the new story is presented visually, while its exact level of player choice remains unknown.
Languages, rating and current specifications
The game supports text in Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, Spanish, French and Portuguese. Voiceover is listed as Japanese only.
The Japanese announcement lists CERO C. The official English site still shows the ESRB rating as pending, and no PEGI rating is displayed there. Ratings can differ by region, so CERO C should not be presented as a universal age classification.

What is still unconfirmed?
The full roster, price, editions, preorder bonuses and exact regional unlock times remain unconfirmed. There is also no announced demo outside TGS, beta, DLC plan, season pass, crossplay or cross-save feature.
