Bloom, Stella, Flora, Musa, Tecna, and Aisha are the six main Winx fairies. For their original adventures, start with Winx Club (2004), season 1. The Magic Is Back starts their story again, World of Winx follows a different adventure on Earth, and Fate: The Winx Saga is a live-action adaptation.
Meet the six Winx fairies
- Bloom: the fairy of the Dragon Flame, whose origins are a major part of the early story.
- Stella: the fairy of the Sun and Moon, a princess from Solaria who introduces Bloom to the fairy world.
- Flora: the fairy of Nature, with magic connected to plants.
- Musa: the fairy of Music, whose love of music is part of her life as well as her powers.
- Tecna: the fairy of Technology, who often approaches problems by thinking through how things work.
- Aisha: the fairy of Waves, also called Layla in some English versions.
Bloom and Stella: where the story starts
Bloom begins on Earth without knowing the full truth about her magic. Meeting Stella gives her a way to reach Alfea and start learning. Stella is more familiar with the magical world, but their friendship does not mean they always agree. Bloom’s questions about her family give the early seasons an ongoing mystery alongside school life.
Flora, Musa, and Tecna
Flora, Musa, and Tecna are part of Bloom’s first circle of friends at Alfea. Flora’s nature magic, Musa’s music, and Tecna’s technology give them different ways to respond when the group is in trouble. Their interests also make the school scenes worth following: the fairies have lives and friendships beyond their transformations.
Aisha and Layla are the same fairy
Aisha joins the original group in season 2. Some dubs call her Layla, so seeing that name in an episode list does not mean there is a seventh main Winx fairy. Character names and English episode titles can vary between releases. Check the version you are watching before comparing a scene or quote.
Alfea, the Specialists, and the Trix
Alfea is the school for fairies. Red Fountain is associated with the Specialists, including characters such as Sky and Brandon. Cloud Tower is the witches’ school, and Icy, Darcy, and Stormy are the trio known as the Trix. Keeping those three schools separate makes the early episodes much easier to follow.
Transformations: more than a new outfit
The fairies gain different forms as their adventures continue. Charmix and Enchantix belong to different stages of the original story; they are not names for additional fairies. If you are new to the show, follow the episodes before looking up how every form is earned, since those explanations can reveal important character moments.
Which Winx series to watch
- Winx Club (2004): begin here for the original animated story, Bloom’s arrival at Alfea, and the classic group coming together.
- World of Winx: the fairies search for talented people on Earth while investigating a threat connected to those talents. Treat it as a separate adventure, not a numbered season of the original.
- Fate: The Winx Saga: a live-action reimagining with a different version of Alfea and its characters. Its tone and story are not a direct continuation of the cartoon.
- Winx Club: The Magic Is Back: a new animated beginning for Bloom and her friends. Start at its first episode rather than looking for a connection to the original finale.
For a first watch, choosing one version and following its episode order is easier than switching between shows with the same characters. A shared name does not mean a relationship, power, or event has exactly the same history in every version.
