The Hawkins Investigators Club barely got a break. Season 2 of Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 began streaming on Netflix September 17, picking up after the animated crew’s first showdown with the Horde Queen. The friends would like to return to arcade games and ordinary winter plans. Hawkins, naturally, has other ideas.
Colorful flowers are appearing across town. They look harmless enough to share ahead of Valentine’s Day, which makes them an especially good problem for this series: the danger can spread because people want to take the flowers home. Showrunner Eric Robles told Netflix that “these flowers are popping up all over Hawkins.” He also said Nikki and Max plan to sell them, putting the mysterious blooms in even more hands.
What is the new mystery?
The new season adds ghostly apparitions and a swarm of creatures Netflix calls hate sprites. The club has to work out what connects those events before another opening to the Upside Down threatens the town. The official premise also takes the kids back to familiar places such as Hawkins Middle School and the Palace Arcade, while Robles teased a mine they have not explored before.
This is still the animated spin-off, not a surprise return of the live-action cast. Brooklyn Davey Norstedt voices Eleven, Luca Diaz voices Mike, Braxton Quinney voices Dustin, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport voices Max, Elisha “EJ” Williams voices Lucas, Benjamin Plessala voices Will and Odessa A’zion voices Nikki. The different performers and animation style give the show its own identity, even while it keeps the familiar Hawkins group at its center.
Where does Season 2 start?
Netflix says the story resumes directly after the Season 1 finale, so newcomers will get more out of it by beginning with the first run. The series itself debuted April 23, 2026; this is its second season, not a newly announced show. The returning children have already formed the HIC, and Dustin’s trailer line — “We’re the first line of defense against paranormal threats to our town” — sums up the job they have given themselves.
There is a bigger question beneath the flowers: are the kids dealing with a fresh haunting, or is Hawkins producing another form of the Upside Down threat they thought they stopped? The first episodes and Netflix’s own description leave room to discover that on screen. We are not revealing the new season’s ending here.
For viewers who came for the original show’s friendship as much as its monsters, this return has a clear hook. The HIC is back together, the town is under threat and the most innocent-looking thing in Hawkins may be the thing to avoid. Both seasons are available on Netflix now.
