Don Leandro has a grand title, an old Madrid mansion and almost no money left. In Netflix’s new Spanish series Fading Grandeur, the marquis decides to sell his decaying family home before his finances collapse completely. Then Sofía Carrington arrives with enough money to be the perfect buyer — and a few things she is not telling him.
Netflix released the first trailer and photos on September 17 and set a global premiere for October 23, 2026. The six-episode dramedy stars Antonio de la Torre as Don Leandro and Alexandra Jiménez as Sofía. Their negotiations begin as a property deal, but the official synopsis says both are hiding who they really are.
A mansion neither side can ignore
Leandro has spent years living on appearances. He dreams of receiving the title Grandee of Spain even as his mansion needs far more than a new coat of paint. Selling it to Sofía might preserve the image of his family — or expose how little is left behind the name. The trailer leans into that gap between what he says and what the house, his relatives and his bank balance are telling him.
Sofía is introduced as a wealthy businesswoman who can make the purchase happen. The first photos show her moving confidently through Leandro’s world, while the trailer suggests she can match his performance with one of her own. Netflix is keeping the details of her secret back. It is enough to know that this will not be a simple story about a rich outsider rescuing a poor aristocrat.
Who is behind the comedy?
Álvaro Fernández-Armero and Juan Cavestany created, wrote and directed the series. They previously worked together on Shame and We’re Sorry for the Inconvenience. Their production company, Cuidado con el perro, is making its first Netflix series here. Alicia Yubero joins them as an executive producer.
The supporting cast includes Enric Benavent, Fernando Andina, Teresa Rabal, Mercedes Sampietro and Celia de Molina. Netflix has not offered a full episode-by-episode guide yet, so there is no need to guess which of them might side with Leandro or Sofía. The official images already give the central pair plenty of room: a formal dinner, a car ride and a mansion that looks capable of hiding many awkward conversations.
The English title is Fading Grandeur; the Spanish title is Grande de España. That difference helps explain the joke. Leandro wants grandeur acknowledged by everyone around him, but the thing he can actually sell is the house. Sofía’s arrival turns his last piece of leverage into the start of a new problem.
All six episodes are scheduled to premiere globally on Netflix on October 23. The trailer sets up the sale and the characters’ competing stories, but it does not reveal who gets the property or whether either of them can keep up the act.
