Funda wants time to paint again. After the birth of her child, she has put her art career on hold and is trying to keep her marriage steady. Hiring a nanny looks like the answer. In Not a Stranger, the new Turkish series now on Netflix, that decision brings a mystery into the family home.
The nanny, Nazlı, seems to offer exactly the help Funda needs. But Netflix’s official description warns that she is hiding something, and her arrival will change Funda and her husband İlker’s lives. The show begins with an ordinary need for childcare and turns it into a question of whom a family can trust.
Who are Funda, Nazlı and İlker?
Elçin Sangu plays Funda, the painter who is pulled between motherhood and the work she misses. Melis Sezen plays the new nanny Nazlı, and Ozan Dolunay plays İlker. The cast also includes Cemal Hünal, Efe Taşdelen, Nergis Öztürk and Mine Teber. Netflix credits Tuğba Doğan as the creator.

The official trailer puts the family together in bright, comfortable rooms, then makes those spaces feel less secure. Funda’s return to painting matters: it is not just a hobby the story can forget. In the second episode’s description, she is eager to get back to the studio while an admission from İlker hangs over their marriage.
A slow-burn story, not a simple intruder tale
By the third episode, Netflix says Funda tries to learn more about Nazlı while İlker keeps his distance and watches her closely. That is enough to tell you the mystery is not only about what the nanny might be hiding. There are uneasy things between the people already living in the house too.
The trailer shows quiet family moments beside worried looks and sharp exchanges. It does not settle which character is telling the truth, so it is better to let the episodes make that case than to turn a promotional clip into a verdict. The tension comes from small signs that everyone may know a little more than they say.
How many episodes are on Netflix?
Not a Stranger premiered September 17, 2026, and Netflix lists eight episodes in its first season. The episode lengths are around three-quarters of an hour to just under an hour. Netflix labels it a Turkish drama with a psychological, suspenseful tone. Its original Turkish title is Seni Tanıyorum.
You can start with the first episode without knowing the secrets in advance. Funda is exhausted, wants her work back and needs somebody to help with her child. That is a strong enough reason to open the door — and a strong enough reason for the story to make you worry about who has walked through it.
