The Sinking City 2 is out now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Frogwares released the standalone survival-horror sequel on August 18, 2026. The former 24-hour Premium early access is over, and the preorder-only Chthonic Arsenal should not be assumed to come with a new purchase unless a storefront explicitly lists it.
Current US PlayStation prices are $49.99 for Standard, $54.99 for Deluxe, and $59.99 for Premium. Standard contains the full game, Deluxe adds the Arkham Field Kit, and Premium adds both the field kit and the Holloway Manor side mission. Regional prices and sales can differ, so confirm the final amount in your local store.

Is The Sinking City 2 out now?
Yes. The full game unlocked on August 18 across Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The old August 17 Premium access window no longer changes when you can begin, so buyers comparing editions now should judge the playable extras rather than the calendar benefit.
The official listings do not offer PS4 or Xbox One versions. If you are already entering Arkham, Pixel Twelve’s Sinking City 2 beginner’s guide explains combat priorities, inventory pressure, Talents, and when an optional investigation is worth the ammunition.
What happened to Premium early access?
Premium buyers received a 24-hour head start on August 17. That benefit expired when every edition unlocked the next day. A current Premium purchase still includes its lasting content, but it cannot recreate the early start and should not be valued as if one day of access remains.
The Chthonic Arsenal was separate from early access. It was the preorder bonus for purchases made before launch and included the Shale Mary handgun, Breakwater shotgun, and Tektite Tommy SMG. None of the three current PlayStation edition summaries lists that pack, so check the exact store contents instead of relying on an older preorder graphic.
Standard, Deluxe, and Premium editions compared
Standard Edition — $49.99
Standard includes the complete main game. It is the cleanest option for players who want Calvin Rafferty’s story without cosmetic outfits, starter resources, or the separate haunted-manor investigation.
Deluxe Edition — $54.99
Deluxe adds the Arkham Field Kit: three outfits, three Dream Essence that can unlock an early Talent, and a resource pack with ammunition, healing supplies, and crafting materials. The kit is also sold separately for $7.99 on the US PlayStation Store, making the $5 edition upgrade the lower listed price if you already want it.
Premium Edition — $59.99
Premium contains the game, the Arkham Field Kit, and The Holloway Manor. Frogwares describes the manor as an optional haunted-house investigation of roughly two hours. Completing it awards the Bucking Bronco revolver and two weapon attachments that carry into the main game.
Holloway Manor is $12.99 as a separate US PlayStation add-on. Premium costs $10 more than Standard and bundles both paid extras, so it remains the strongest listed bundle after launch for someone who already wants the side mission. The expired 24-hour access should not influence that comparison.
Which edition should you buy now?
- Choose Standard if you only want the main story or prefer to decide on add-ons after playing.
- Choose Deluxe if the outfits and early resource boost matter and you do not want Holloway Manor.
- Choose Premium if you want Holloway Manor; the current bundle costs less than buying both listed add-ons separately on PlayStation.
Sales, bundles, and regional taxes can overturn that simple comparison. Check the local storefront immediately before paying, especially if you see an older page still advertising early access or preorder weapons. Those time-limited benefits are no longer the reason to upgrade.
What changed after launch?
PlayStation’s launch article confirms that the sequel is a standalone story, so knowledge of the first game is not required. It also defines the new structure more precisely: The Sinking City 2 is a semi-open-world survival horror game with heavier combat, exploration, and supply management, while investigations are optional paths to useful knowledge, shortcuts, resources, and upgrades.
Frogwares released console patch 1.0.1 on August 25. The official notes list general performance and optimization work, several rare crash fixes, and Xbox-specific improvements to low-health ghosting and shadows. Console players should allow the game to update before judging a problem against the launch build.
Do you need to play the first Sinking City?
No. This story follows Calvin Rafferty in Arkham rather than Charles Reed in Oakmont. A failed ritual, a supernatural flood, and the woman Calvin is trying to save form a new central case. Returning players will recognize the Lovecraftian mood and investigative DNA, but the sequel does not require the first game’s plot to establish its stakes.
What kind of game is The Sinking City 2?
It is a single-player, third-person survival horror game. Ammunition and healing supplies are limited, retreat can be smarter than forcing a fight, and shortcuts make return trips through flooded districts safer. Arkham is navigated on foot and by skiff, with refuge areas used to adjust weapons and upgrades.
Investigation still matters, but it does not gate every story step. Reading clues and pursuing optional cases can reveal safer routes, hard-to-find resources, and weapon improvements. That makes detective work a survival advantage rather than the entire progression system.

PC requirements and purchase checks
The Steam listing requires Windows 11, 16 GB of RAM, DirectX 12, and 70 GB on an SSD at minimum. Frogwares lists 32 GB of RAM and a stronger GPU for its recommended 1440p, 60 fps target. Those are store targets rather than a guarantee for every system, so compare the full CPU and GPU requirements before buying the PC version.
The game is sold as a separate purchase on the official PC and console stores. Xbox notes that cloud play can be used with an eligible Game Pass tier but still requires owning the game. For trailers, linked coverage, and future updates, use Pixel Twelve’s The Sinking City 2 game hub rather than an outdated preorder page.
