Premium includes everything from Deluxe, the 24-hour early unlock, and The Holloway Manor. Frogwares describes the manor as an optional haunted-mansion investigation that takes around two hours. Finishing it unlocks the Bucking Bronco revolver and two weapon attachments for the main game.

The US price difference is small: Deluxe costs $5 more than Standard, and Premium costs another $5. Regional pricing can vary, so the local storefront remains the final price check.

Do you need to play the first Sinking City?

You should be able to begin with The Sinking City 2 without finishing the first game. This is a new case with Calvin Rafferty as the protagonist, Arkham replacing Oakmont, and a different crisis built around a failed dreaming ritual and the woman he is trying to save.

That conclusion comes from the official story setup rather than a promise that every reference will be explained. Returning players may recognize the Lovecraftian ideas and investigative DNA, but the central character and location do not require you to remember Charles Reed's entire story.

What kind of game is The Sinking City 2?

Frogwares calls it a third-person survival horror game. Ammunition and supplies are limited, enemies can push you into retreat, and safe spaces let you adjust weapons and upgrades before heading back out. Arkham is explored on foot and by skiff, with shortcuts that open routes to supplies and optional cases.

Investigations are still present, but they no longer define every step. Optional cases can reveal safer paths, useful resources, and upgrades without blocking the main story. The studio's goal is a tighter horror game rather than another large detective adventure with combat attached.

Can you try it before buying?

A free Steam demo covers roughly the opening hour. It introduces Calvin, the flooded city, combat, exploration, and the new survival loop. Frogwares has not clearly promised that demo progress transfers into the full release, so it is safer to treat the demo as a separate preview unless the studio confirms otherwise.

Is The Sinking City 2 on Game Pass or PlayStation Plus?

No Game Pass or PlayStation Plus launch has been announced as of August 13. The official Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam listings present it as a paid release, so anyone planning to play on day one should expect to buy an edition.

A subscription release could still happen later, but there is no confirmed date or promise to build around. The Premium Edition's early unlock is also a purchase benefit, not a Game Pass or PlayStation Plus perk.

Which edition should you buy?

Standard is the sensible choice if you only want the main story. Deluxe is aimed at players who value cosmetic outfits and a slightly easier start. Premium is the strongest value on paper because the extra $10 over Standard adds the field kit, a two-hour side mission, its weapon rewards, and the one-day early unlock.
