Big Walk is included with PlayStation Plus from August 4 through August 31. Essential, Extra, and Premium members can all claim it. Once it is added to your library, it remains available while your PlayStation Plus membership is active.
Current members should claim it, even if their group is not ready. The harder question is whether Big Walk fits the way you and your friends actually play together.
You Need at Least One Reliable Friend
Big Walk supports two to 12 players, but it does not have public matchmaking or a proper solo campaign. There is no split-screen mode either. Every player needs a supported system, a copy of the game or eligible access, and an internet connection.

Crossplay helps. PS5 players can join friends on Switch 2, Windows, or Mac through a Join Code. The game also supports platform friends lists where available. Crossplay removes the platform barrier, but you still have to organize the group yourself.
Choose the Host Carefully
The host owns the shared save. That person must start future sessions if the group wants to continue the same journey. When the host leaves, everyone is disconnected. Choose the friend with a stable connection and a schedule that matches the rest of the group.
Our Big Walk multiplayer guide explains hosting, Join Codes, party-size settings, crossplay, and saves in more detail.
What Playing Big Walk Feels Like
This is a first-person cooperative adventure with exploration and puzzles. There is no combat, health bar, or pressure to complete a run before a timer ends. Groups follow landmarks, inspect unusual buildings, carry tools, and learn how the island responds to them.
Communication is the main challenge. Voices and text fade with distance. Walls can interfere. Players may need walkie-talkies, gestures, lights, or simple names for symbols. Using a PlayStation party call can make the game easier, but it also removes much of what makes the puzzles different.
