The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered comes to Nintendo Switch 2 on August 11, 2026 in the United States, Europe, and several other regions. Australia and New Zealand list August 12, reflecting the regional calendar rather than a separate version of the game.

Bethesda lists August 11, 2026 as the main Switch 2 release date. Nintendo's stores in the United States, Brazil, and Europe show the same date.

Nintendo Australia lists August 12. This is a normal regional difference caused by time zones and local storefront schedules. Players should follow the date displayed by the Nintendo eShop connected to their account instead of converting another region's date on their own.

Bethesda has not announced one global unlock time. A pre-order may download before release, but it will remain locked until the local eShop makes it playable.

Is Oblivion Remastered coming to the original Switch?

The Deluxe Edition contains everything in the Standard Edition, plus new quests that reward digital Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon armor, weapons, and horse armor sets.

Bethesda lists both digital and physical Deluxe Editions for Switch 2. The physical version includes the full base game on the cartridge, according to the official announcement. That makes it different from a box containing only a download code, although some additional content or updates may still require internet access.

Players who buy the digital base game can purchase a separate Deluxe Edition upgrade. The base game is required, and the upgrade adds the Deluxe equipment quests. It does not replace the complete game.

Does the Switch 2 version have special features?

Bethesda's launch information says the Switch 2 version uses DLSS in handheld and docked modes. It targets 900p at 30 FPS in handheld mode and 1080p at 30 FPS when docked.

The port also supports motion controls, touchscreen input, and left- or right-handed mouse controls. Nintendo's store lists surround sound, TV mode, tabletop mode, handheld mode, and Save Data Cloud support.

Those numbers are official targets, not an independent performance test. Frame-rate stability, loading times, and battery use in handheld mode will still need to be checked after release.

Is there a free upgrade for existing owners?

Bethesda has not announced a cross-platform entitlement that gives the Switch 2 version to people who own Oblivion Remastered on PlayStation, Xbox, or PC. Nintendo's listing treats it as a separate purchase.

The Deluxe upgrade mentioned by Bethesda is different. It upgrades the Switch 2 digital base game to the Deluxe content; it does not move ownership from another platform.

Save transfers or cross-progression have not been announced either. Players should not expect an Xbox, PlayStation, or PC save to appear on Switch 2 unless Bethesda confirms a transfer system.

Should you buy Standard or Deluxe?

Choose the Standard Edition if you mainly want the full Oblivion story, Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine, and all the returning add-ons. Nothing in Bethesda's description suggests the core campaign or major expansions are locked behind Deluxe.

Choose Deluxe if the Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon equipment quests appeal to you, or if you specifically want the physical cartridge edition. Existing digital owners can add the Deluxe upgrade later, so there is no need to buy the extra content immediately just to access the full adventure.
