The Diablo Immortal x Spawn event is live from September 29 through November 1. Blizzard has added a Spawn-themed reward track, a new version of Survivor’s Bane, a fight with Malebolgia and a two-star Legendary Gem. The crossover also has shop items, but the event track’s Spawn-inspired weapon skins are free to earn.
The event opened after regional server maintenance. Blizzard lists its main rewards from September 29 at 3 a.m. PDT until November 1 at 2:59 a.m. PDT. Some separate game updates and gem-pool changes have different end dates, so the November 1 deadline is the one to remember for the Spawn event itself.
How do you earn the free rewards?
Open Hellspawn’s Vengeance in the game and complete its weekly objectives. Activities include the Hellspawn’s Bane survival mode and The Eighth Circle boss fight. They give Vengeance Marks that move you along the reward track. Blizzard lists 10 Hellspawn’s Guise weapon skins, a Hellspawned Dominion avatar frame, six emojis, Legendary Crests and a Necroplasmic Totem Legendary Gem among its rewards.
The weapon skins are tied to event progress, not a purchase. Blizzard does not show every class weapon in its announcement art, so check the reward track in your own game before choosing which objective to finish first.
You do not need to buy the Phantom Market outfit to take part in these activities. The important split is earnable track rewards versus optional shop cosmetics. Weekly objectives mean there is more to do than simply logging in on the first day; the in-game event panel shows your progress.
What changes in Survivor’s Bane?
Hellspawn’s Bane is a Spawn-themed version of Survivor’s Bane. You face waves of demons, pick up orbs and build a set of powers as you survive. Six new skills are named after Spawn abilities: Hell Chains, K7-Leetha Cloak, Necroplasm, Hell Fire, Spiritual Manipulation and Agony.
Hell Chains strikes enemies in a cone in front of you; the cloak creates a damaging circle around you; Necroplasm fires three shots; and Hell Fire opens a rift that hurts nearby enemies. Spiritual Manipulation roots enemies, while Agony throws a spinning axe through them. A new timer eventually sends you to fight Heap before returning you to the run.
How does the Malebolgia boss work?
Malebolgia is the new Helliquary boss in The Eighth Circle. Blizzard says he uses wide attacks and summons Hellspawn. Weekly timed goals award points and rewards. There is also a cosmetic reward for earning MVP four times in team boss fights with at least three players. That is a team objective, not a reward for defeating him once on your own.
What does the Necroplasmic Totem do?
The two-star Necroplasmic Totem Legendary Gem gives you a damage boost for six seconds after you deal damage. Its Necroplasm can remove a harmful effect over time; when it does, or when you kill an enemy, it fires a bolt that burns nearby targets. Blizzard says the gem can appear in the event reward track and in several Elder Rift gem pools until November 4 at 3 a.m. PDT.
Which Spawn items cost money?
Blizzard puts the Crimson Cloak look in a limited-time Phantom Market. The Empowered version adds other Spawn color options, weapon effects and finishers. Lil’ Violator is a familiar appearance sold in the Hellbound Leash Bundle, which also includes Eternal Orbs, Legendary Crests and Gem Fragments. The shop also lists a Boon of the Hellspawn Login Bundle. These are separate from the free event-track rewards.
If you only want to try the crossover without spending, start with Hellspawn’s Vengeance and the two event activities. If you want the Violator familiar or Phantom Market look, check the in-game shop and its displayed price before buying.
