The Traitors: New Blood has found an audience on both NBC and Peacock. NBCUniversal said on September 25 that its two premiere episodes each averaged about 6 million viewers across the network and streaming service. That figure includes repeat broadcasts and viewing in the first three days after the September 17 launch.
This is the version of The Traitors with a new cast of non-celebrity players. Alan Cumming still hosts the game at the Scottish castle, where a hidden group of Traitors tries to eliminate the Faithful before the Faithful can vote them out. The first two episodes introduced the contestants; episodes 3 and 4 aired on September 24.
What the 6 million figure means
The number is an average for each of the two opening episodes, not 6 million people added together across both episodes. It is also not a live NBC-only rating. NBC counted viewers on television and Peacock, including repeats. The company says the premiere is its biggest launch for a new unscripted show in six years among adults aged 18 to 49.
NBC also says more than 5 million viewers who had not watched the franchise before reached New Blood across its platforms. That is the network’s own measurement, but it makes the main point clear: putting this season on broadcast TV brought The Traitors to people who had not been following the celebrity version on Peacock.
The new cast is part of the appeal
The established U.S. series draws from reality-TV stars and other public figures. New Blood instead starts with players the audience is meeting for the first time. Viewers do not arrive knowing old alliances, feuds or television reputations. They have to work out who seems trustworthy at the same time as the cast.
That change does not alter the basic rules. The contestants still build a prize fund through challenges, while the Traitors pick off Faithful players and try to survive the roundtable vote. The prize can reach $250,000. Cumming remains the host, so the show still looks and feels connected to the larger franchise.
When is the next episode?
New Blood airs on NBC Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT, with episodes streaming on Peacock the following day in the U.S. Check your local NBC listing for the broadcast time and Peacock for the newest available episode. The new ratings report does not announce a winner or change the release schedule.
NBC also reported more than 85 million video views for New Blood clips on social platforms in its first week. Those are clip views, not extra people who watched a full episode, so they should be kept separate from the television and streaming audience. The useful takeaway for fans is simpler: the civilian season has started strongly enough that a lot of people are now following its first round of lies and accusations.
