Charlie Brooker’s Blackmere now has a title, first-look photos and an early 2027 Netflix release window. Paddy Considine plays Detective John Blackmere, joined by Georgina Campbell, Lena Headey and newly announced cast member Rory Kinnear.
The detective leaves the northern city of Bleakford for London after his partner dies. There he tries to avenge the death and catch a ritualistic serial killer. Netflix describes the series as an absurd comedy dressed as a serious crime thriller.
What the first photos show
The images place Considine’s detective on a city street and behind police tape at night. Other scenes show an industrial building and officers working inside a police station. The photos introduce the crime-story setting, but Netflix has not explained how the other three announced actors fit into the case.

Considine is the only actor whose character Netflix has named. Campbell, Headey and Kinnear are confirmed for the series, but their roles have not been disclosed. Kinnear previously appeared in Brooker’s Black Mirror; Blackmere has been announced as a separate show.
Brooker created the series and is part of its writing team. Other writers include Ben Caudell, Jason Hazeley, Emer Kenny, Daniel Maier and Joel Morris. Jessica Rhoades and Annabel Jones are executive producers.
When and where can you watch it?
Blackmere is planned for Netflix in early 2027, not available to stream yet. The service has not announced a specific premiere date.
