FX’s live-action Far Cry series has added five actors to its first season: Brendan Gleeson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Hamish Linklater, Sam Spruell, and Jamie Demetriou. They join Rob Mac, Lizzy Caplan, and Steve Buscemi.

FX and Ubisoft have not revealed who any of them will play. The plot, filming schedule, trailer, and release date are also still under wraps.

Who is in the Far Cry TV series cast?

Brendan Gleeson arrives with credits that include The Banshees of Inisherin, Paddington 2, and the Harry Potter films. Jennifer Jason Leigh appeared in Fargo after a career that includes The Hateful Eight and Atypical.

Hamish Linklater starred in Midnight Mass and played Batman in the animated series Batman: Caped Crusader. Sam Spruell appeared in Fargo and The North Water, while Jamie Demetriou created and starred in Stath Lets Flats.

Rob Mac will star in the series and co-created it with Noah Hawley. Lizzy Caplan and Steve Buscemi were announced earlier. None of the eight confirmed actors has a public character name yet.

Will the show adapt one of the Far Cry games?

No specific game has been named. Ubisoft describes the series as an original story built as an anthology. Each season is planned to move to a different location with a different cast.

That setup fits the games, which regularly introduce a new region, protagonist, villain, and conflict. The first season could use the franchise’s basic survival-and-rebellion formula without retelling Far Cry 3, Far Cry 5, or Far Cry 6. FX has not identified its setting or antagonist.

Who is making the Far Cry series?

Noah Hawley and Rob Mac created the adaptation. Hawley is the creator of FX’s Fargo and Alien: Earth, while Mac is one of the creators and stars of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

FX Productions is producing the series. Hawley and Mac serve as executive producers with teams from 26 Keys, 3 Arts, More Better Productions, and Ubisoft Film & Television.

Where will Far Cry be available?

The series will air on FX and stream on Hulu in the United States. Disney+ will carry it internationally. Neither company has announced whether episodes will arrive weekly or all at once.

The cast now has eight recognizable names, but the first season is still missing its basic public details. The next reveal should tell viewers where the story is set, who these actors are playing, and when production begins.
