Serious Sam: Shatterverse launches August 31, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It supports solo play and online co-op for up to five players. The U.S. PlayStation Store lists a 4:00 p.m. UTC PS5 release, but Steam and Xbox do not currently publish the same universal clock time.

What time does Serious Sam: Shatterverse release?

The only explicit launch clock currently shown by a first-party store is on PlayStation. The U.S. PlayStation Store says the PS5 version releases at 4:00 p.m. UTC on August 31. That is a single worldwide moment on the PS5 listing, not midnight in every region.

  • Pacific Daylight Time: 9:00 a.m. on August 31.
  • Central Daylight Time: 11:00 a.m. on August 31.
  • Eastern Daylight Time: 12:00 p.m. on August 31.
  • British Summer Time: 5:00 p.m. on August 31.
  • Central European Summer Time: 6:00 p.m. on August 31.
  • Japan Standard Time: 1:00 a.m. on September 1.

Steam shows an approximate countdown rather than a fixed timestamp in its public listing, and the Xbox Store does not expose an equivalent release clock. Players on PC or Xbox should therefore use the live countdown in their own store instead of assuming the PS5 time applies everywhere. Pixel Twelve will not turn an approximate countdown into a made-up universal unlock time.

Which platforms are confirmed?

  • PlayStation: PS5 only; no PS4 version is announced.
  • Xbox: Xbox Series X|S; no Xbox One version is listed.
  • PC: Steam and Xbox on PC.
  • Handheld PC: the Xbox Store lists compatible Windows handhelds under its Play With section.
  • Cloud: Xbox Wire lists Xbox Cloud as a supported route.

Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PS4, and Xbox One editions have not been announced. The launch is limited to current-generation consoles and Windows PC storefronts. A cloud listing is not a native mobile or television version of the game.

How does solo and five-player co-op work?

Shatterverse is built for one to five players. Steam describes it as a 1-5 player co-op roguelite FPS, PlayStation supports one player or up to five online players, and Xbox lists single-player plus online co-op for two to five. That means a full group contains five people, while a solo run remains a supported way to play.

The official stores advertise online co-op, not local split-screen or couch co-op. Players should not assume that several people can share one console. Behaviour Interactive has also not published details about drop-in joining, private lobbies, host migration, or whether progression is shared equally among teammates.

Does Serious Sam: Shatterverse have crossplay?

Cross-platform support is confirmed in broad terms, but full crossplay across every launch storefront is not. Steam labels the game Cross-Platform Multiplayer, while Xbox lists Xbox cross-platform co-op. Neither listing names every compatible pairing, and the PlayStation Store does not currently advertise crossplay.

The safe reading is that cross-platform co-op exists, particularly inside the Xbox console-and-PC ecosystem, but PS5-to-Xbox and PS5-to-Steam matchmaking should remain unconfirmed until Behaviour or Devolver publishes a platform matrix or account FAQ. The same applies to cross-progression outside Xbox Play Anywhere.

Do you need PS Plus or Xbox Game Pass?

PS Plus is required only for online play on PS5. The PlayStation listing marks online play as optional and separately lists one-player support, so the solo game can be played without joining online co-op. On Xbox console, the store says online multiplayer requires Game Pass Essential, Premium, or Ultimate, sold separately.

Serious Sam: Shatterverse has not been announced as an included Xbox Game Pass catalog game as of August 29. Xbox Wire explicitly says when many other Partner Preview games are coming to Game Pass, but its Shatterverse section confirms only Xbox platforms, Xbox Cloud, and Play Anywhere. The multiplayer-subscription notice on the store page is an access requirement, not a catalog announcement.

What Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Cloud mean here

Xbox Play Anywhere identifies the Xbox console and Xbox-on-PC versions as one supported ecosystem. A digital Xbox purchase can be used on supported Xbox consoles and Windows PCs under the same Microsoft account, with compatible saves and achievements following that account. It does not grant the Steam or PS5 version.

Xbox Wire also names Xbox Cloud. That confirms cloud support, but it still does not mean the game is free or included in a subscription catalog. Cloud availability, eligible devices, ownership, regions, and subscription requirements are governed by the Xbox service when the game becomes playable.

What kind of Serious Sam game is Shatterverse?

This is a run-based roguelite FPS rather than a numbered Serious Sam campaign. Uber Mental has broken the boundaries between universes, bringing five alternate versions of Sam together. Xbox says each Sam has unique abilities, while the store descriptions promise classic and new weapons, boons, run modifiers, hidden portals, permanent upgrades, and five lieutenant bosses.

The arenas are hand-built, but the runs shift through modifiers, anomalies, rewards, and changing routes. Death ends the current attempt without ending progression: unlocks and strategy choices are designed to expand later runs. Behaviour Interactive is developing the game, while Devolver Digital is publishing it; Croteam is not listed as the developer of this installment.

Serious Sam: Shatterverse PC requirements

  • Minimum OS: 64-bit Windows 10.
  • Minimum CPU: Intel Core i7-6700 or AMD Ryzen 5 2500U.
  • Minimum memory: 8 GB RAM.
  • Minimum GPU: GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or Radeon RX 560X.
  • Minimum storage: 10 GB available space.
  • Recommended target: Windows 11, 16 GB RAM, Core i7-11800H or Ryzen 5 5600X, and GeForce RTX 2080 or Radeon RX 7600 for 1080p at 60 fps on High.

Steam currently shows “10 MB” in the recommended storage block, which conflicts with its own 10 GB minimum. That appears to be a storefront data error, so readers should use 10 GB as the only credible published storage baseline and allow extra room for installation and updates.

Is Shatterverse Serious Sam 5?

No official source calls it Serious Sam 5. The title is Serious Sam: Shatterverse, and its structure is a co-op roguelite built around repeated runs, five alternate Sams, and shifting modifiers. It is a new standalone installment in the franchise, but readers should not turn that into an unannounced numbered sequel.

The development credit matters too. Behaviour Interactive, the studio behind Dead by Daylight, is making Shatterverse, while Devolver Digital is publishing it. Croteam created the series and developed the mainline games, but the official storefronts do not list Croteam as this game’s developer. That helps explain why the design emphasizes a five-player run loop rather than a traditional numbered campaign.

What is still unannounced before launch?

  • Full crossplay matrix: the stores do not identify every compatible PS5, Xbox, Steam, and Microsoft Store pairing.
  • Game Pass catalog inclusion: not announced.
  • Price and editions: the official pages reviewed do not currently publish a launch price, deluxe edition, or preorder package.
  • Preload timing: no platform-wide preload schedule is listed.
  • Local multiplayer: no split-screen or couch co-op feature is advertised.
  • Universal release time: only the PS5 store exposes a precise 4:00 p.m. UTC clock.
