When is the Escape From Playtime release date?

Mob Entertainment has not announced a day, month, or broader launch window. The official FAQ says there is no public release date, while Steam lists the game as “Coming soon.” Early Access is the confirmed release path, but it should not be mistaken for a dated launch announcement.

The price and business model are also unannounced. The Steam page is currently a wishlist page rather than a purchase page, and Mob has not detailed any edition, pre-order bonus, or version 1.0 timing. Listings that supply a specific date or price before the studio does are placeholders, not confirmed information.

Is Escape From Playtime coming to consoles or mobile?

Not under the current launch plan. Mob’s FAQ says Escape From Playtime is planned only for Steam, although the studio may explore other opportunities later. That means PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, iOS, and Android versions are not announced. A possible future port is not the same as a confirmed platform.

The PC version requires Windows 10 or 11. The FAQ explicitly says macOS and Linux are not supported at present. Steam lists both single-player and online co-op, along with Family Sharing, and Mob confirms controller support for hardware recognized by Steam.

How to register for an Escape From Playtime playtest

Mob Entertainment directs interested players to its Mob Insider page, where registration connects through FirstLook. The page says members can be included in future playtest opportunities and that invited participants continue through a link sent by email. Signing up records interest; it does not guarantee selection.

  • Step 1: open Mob Entertainment’s official playtest registration page.
  • Step 2: choose Join the Community and connect or create the required FirstLook account.
  • Step 3: watch the email attached to that account for a possible invitation link.

No playtest date, duration, capacity, region list, or selection schedule has been published. Players should use the official Mob page rather than third-party “beta key” offers, because there is no public key distribution announced.

Can you play Escape From Playtime solo?

Yes. The game is built for one to four players, so a solo run is supported. In co-op, as many as three friends can join. Everyone plays as a Smiling Critter and enters changing sections of the Playtime Co. factory to collect parts and resources for a mysterious Voice while hostile creations search the facility.

Proximity voice chat makes nearby teammates easier to hear and distant teammates harder to hear. Mob says a microphone is not mandatory, but communication improves the experience. The same FAQ says the game does not feature a separate in-game chat, so players who need text communication should not assume one is included.

How the co-op runs and Early Access content work

Each run places the team in a different section of the factory, including classrooms, warehouses, testing labs, and the corridors between them. Players search for tools, clues, hiding spots, distractions, and alternate routes. The Voice changes the factory layout, giving the game a procedural structure rather than one fixed route through every attempt.

Mob plans to begin Early Access with all eight Smiling Critters, one starter zone, and a core enemy lineup. Later updates are expected to add zones, enemies, features, and refinements based on player feedback. The studio has not published a roadmap or promised dates for those additions, so the initial roster and zone are the reliable launch baseline.

Escape From Playtime PC requirements

  • Minimum OS: 64-bit Windows 10 or 11.
  • Minimum CPU: Intel Core i3-9100 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500.
  • Minimum memory: 8 GB RAM.
  • Minimum GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 or AMD Radeon RX 470.
  • Recommended CPU: Intel Core i9-11900K or AMD Ryzen 9 5900X.
  • Recommended memory: 16 GB RAM.
  • Recommended GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT.
  • Graphics API: DirectX 12 at both tiers.

Steam and the developer FAQ do not currently list a storage requirement. The unusually wide gap between the minimum and recommended processors is official, not an estimate added by Pixel Twelve, and may change as the Early Access build is optimized.

Where it fits in the Poppy Playtime timeline

Escape From Playtime takes place sometime after the Hour of Joy, the day the toy experiments rebelled against Playtime Co. employees. The Smiling Critters were introduced in Poppy Playtime: Chapter 3, but this game shifts the viewpoint: players inhabit the smaller toys and crawl, jump, and climb through familiar factory spaces from a new scale.

The main objective is deliberately suspicious. A mysterious Voice promises sanctuary and sends the Critters to extract materials for a building project. Completing runs reveals more of the connection to the larger Poppy Playtime story, but Mob has not identified the Voice or explained the final purpose of the collected resources.

Does this replace the main Poppy Playtime chapters?

No. Mob’s official FAQ says the Escape From Playtime development team is completely separate from the team making the Poppy Playtime chapter series. The studio explicitly says work on this multiplayer project does not interfere with development of the chapters.
