SAKAMOTO DAYS Season 2 has a January 2027 release window, and a new character trailer shows who will make Taro Sakamoto's next mission harder. The August 21 video focuses on Amane, Etsuko Satoda, and Yotsumura, three people connected to the assassin world in very different ways.
The anime is based on Yuto Suzuki's Weekly Shonen Jump manga. It follows Sakamoto, a legendary hitman who left that life behind to run a family store. Season 2 will send him and Shin undercover at the JCC, the school that trains assassins, while another mission takes members of the Order to Kyoto.
The trailer introduces three new faces
Amane is a top JCC student with an unusually strong memory. The official character profile also gives him a direct reason to oppose the Order: he resents the organization because of events in his past. That puts him inside the school system while keeping him in conflict with the people Sakamoto and Shin are trying to understand.
Etsuko Satoda is the JCC's longest-serving teacher and an expert in aikido. She once trained Sakamoto and other assassins before choosing education over a place in the Order. Her connection to Sakamoto is not a new alliance; she is part of the history he is about to revisit.
Yotsumura has the most obvious link to the Order. He was once the No. 2 figure in the JAA and helped establish the group. An execution order forced him into hiding, and the official profile says he was also the person who recruited and mentored Shishiba. The character trailer presents him as a major figure from the organization's past, not a random new opponent.
Sakamoto and Shin are going undercover at the JCC
Season 2's central mission begins with Sakamoto and Shin gathering information on X, also known as Slur. The official synopsis places both characters inside the JCC, with Sakamoto using a teacher disguise and Shin entering as a student. The school setting gives them access to the next generation of assassins while forcing Sakamoto back into a world he tried to leave.
The other half of the setup takes Nagumo, Shishiba, and Osaragi to Kyoto. The trio is sent on a mission and then attacked by an unexpected assassin. Netflix's official description also says the season will reveal more about the younger Sakamoto, Nagumo, Rion, and Slur, so the present-day investigation will be tied to the older history between those characters.
The new trailer does not reveal the full plot of either mission. It gives viewers the school, the returning cast, and the three new characters who will change the balance around Sakamoto and Shin.
The new characters connect the JCC to the Order
Amane represents the students who have inherited the JCC's rules without accepting the Order's history. Satoda links the school to Sakamoto's earlier training, and Yotsumura ties the current conflict to the people who built the Order in the first place. Their roles are separate, but all three give the season a reason to move between the classroom, the organization, and Sakamoto's past.
The Japanese voice cast is also confirmed. Kikunosuke Toya voices Amane, Misa Watanabe voices Etsuko Satoda, and Shinshu Fujii voices Yotsumura. The returning cast includes Tomokazu Sugita as Sakamoto, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Shin, Natsuki Hanae as Nagumo, Taku Yashiro as Shishiba, and Saori Hayami as Osaragi.
TMS Entertainment is returning with a new director
TMS Entertainment remains the animation studio for Season 2. Daisuke Nakajima, who worked on the first season, takes over as director, while Masaki Watanabe stays on as supervising director. Taku Kishimoto returns for series composition, Yo Moriyama handles character design, and Yuki Hayashi returns for the music.
The staff change is confirmed, but it does not tell us how the finished season will look or how many episodes Netflix has ordered. The official announcements have given the production team and the story setup, not a full episode count or an exact weekly schedule.
When does SAKAMOTO DAYS Season 2 release?
SAKAMOTO DAYS Season 2 is scheduled to premiere in January 2027 on Netflix. Neither Netflix nor the anime's official site has announced the exact day, episode count, or release time. The January window is confirmed; a specific Friday or weekly rollout is not.

SAKAMOTO DAYS is different because Season 2 is a direct continuation of the existing series, with Sakamoto and Shin moving into the JCC story rather than starting the franchise again.
