Mafia: The Old Country is returning to Enzo Favara's story with Man of Honor, a full expansion built around two new chapters and a larger Free Ride mode. Hangar 13 and 2K have already given it a firm release date: August 14, 2026.
The expansion takes Enzo back to Sicily in the winter of 1905, months after his initiation into the Torrisi crime family. His assignment brings him together with Ennio Salieri, a familiar name for anyone who played Mafia: Definitive Edition.
Man of Honor is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam. It requires the base game, and 2K has not announced a price yet.
Man of Honor release date and platforms
The Mafia: The Old Country Man of Honor expansion releases on August 14, 2026 for:
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X|S
- PC via Steam
There is no announced PS4 or Xbox One version. That matches the platform list for the base game, which launched on current-generation consoles and PC.
The expansion is available to wishlist now. 2K's reveal does not include a preload date, launch time, price, or separate edition details, so those points remain unconfirmed.
What is the Man of Honor expansion?
Man of Honor is a story expansion for Mafia: The Old Country, not a standalone game. You need the base game to play it. Some of its content also requires progress through gameplay before it becomes available.
The package has two main parts. The first is a continuation of Enzo's campaign across two new story chapters. The second adds new activities, locations, and collectibles to Free Ride, the mode built for open exploration and challenges outside the main narrative.
That structure keeps the focused storytelling of The Old Country while giving players more reasons to spend time in its version of Sicily after the credits.
The story brings Ennio Salieri into Enzo's life
The new chapters take place in winter 1905. Enzo has spent the months since his initiation proving himself as a reliable soldier for the Torrisi family. The Don then gives Enzo and Cesare a delicate job: help Ennio Salieri after his release from prison.
Salieri is trying to reclaim what he believes belongs to him. Working at his side pulls Enzo further into the Valle Dorata underworld, where old debts and questions of loyalty can turn a simple assignment into a family crisis.
For longtime Mafia players, the name carries extra weight. Ennio Salieri eventually becomes Don of the Salieri crime family and the main antagonist of Mafia: Definitive Edition. Man of Honor is set years earlier, so the expansion can show a younger Salieri before he becomes the powerful boss Tommy Angelo knows.
What the two new story chapters include
2K says the chapters explore a previously unseen period when Enzo is at his height as a soldato. The official reveal confirms:
- Two new story chapters
- New environments
- New weapons
- New vehicles
- New Charms
The announcement does not give an estimated length or explain whether choices from the base game carry into the expansion. It also does not name the new weapons, vehicles, or Charms. Those details will need to come from a later trailer or gameplay breakdown.
The focus is clear, though: this is a direct continuation rather than a disconnected side story. Enzo, Cesare, and Salieri are at the center, with the winter setting giving Valle Dorata a different look from the sunlit Sicily of the base campaign.
What is being added to Free Ride?
Man of Honor expands Free Ride with a new set of extreme challenges. Salieri becomes your point of contact for these activities, sending you toward jobs designed to test players who already understand the game's driving, shooting, and stealth systems.
The update also adds new collectibles and never-before-seen locations to explore. 2K has not revealed the exact number of challenges or collectibles, and it has not explained whether the new locations connect directly to areas used in the story chapters.
The important restriction is easy to miss: the Man of Honor expansion is required for this additional Free Ride content. Some parts must also be unlocked through gameplay, so buying the expansion may not place every activity on the map immediately.
Do you need to finish Mafia: The Old Country first?
2K only states that the base game is required. It has not published a specific chapter requirement or said that you must complete the full campaign before starting Man of Honor.
Story-wise, finishing The Old Country first is the safer choice. The expansion occurs months after Enzo's initiation and continues his life within the Torrisi family. Starting early could spoil character relationships or assume you already understand how Enzo reached his position.
If 2K later adds a direct-start option, new players may be able to enter quickly. Until that is confirmed, plan on treating Man of Honor as a post-campaign continuation.
How much will Man of Honor cost?
The price has not been announced. The reveal calls Man of Honor an expansion and allows players to wishlist it, but it does not list a dollar amount, preorder bonus, upgrade path, or inclusion in a season pass.
Avoid buying a different Mafia edition on the assumption that it includes the expansion unless the store page says so directly. The base game requirement is confirmed; automatic ownership through a premium edition is not.
We will know more once the PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam listings show a price and purchase options closer to August 14.
Is Man of Honor worth watching?
Man of Honor addresses the biggest limitation of a tightly structured Mafia game: once the story ends, players want more reasons to stay in its world. Two new narrative chapters give Enzo another focused arc, while the Free Ride additions add room for replayable challenges and exploration.
Salieri is the strongest hook. His future is already known, but seeing how he fought his way back after prison can add context to the man who later controls Lost Heaven. The new environments, winter setting, weapons, vehicles, and Charms should also make the return feel more substantial than a short bonus mission.
For now, the confirmed facts are enough to mark the date: August 14, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The remaining questions are price, chapter length, unlock conditions, and exactly how large the Free Ride expansion will be.
