Rapunzel finally made it out of the tower at D23. Disney gave the live-action Tangled movie its first look, showing Teagan Croft as Rapunzel, Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider, and Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel. The movie also has a theatrical date: March 31, 2028. That is a long wait, but at least fans now have something real to look at besides casting rumors and old concept art.

The reveal was part of Disney’s 2026 fan event, so it was made for people who already know the songs, the tower, the lanterns, and the very specific chaos of Flynn Rider. This is a first look, not a full trailer or a complete story breakdown. The useful question is not whether Disney showed everything. It is whether the first images make you want to see this version leave the screen and enter a theater.

The First Look Puts Rapunzel and Flynn on the Big Screen

The first public images came from the Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23. GamesRadar’s live coverage described the reveal as the very first look at the live-action movie and identified Croft, Manheim, and Hahn in their roles. Photos shared by Total Film from inside the presentation show the footage playing on the giant D23 screens rather than a finished trailer released online.

That difference matters. A few photos from a fan event can show the costumes, locations, and general mood, but they cannot tell us how the movie moves, how the songs sound, or how much of the final footage is finished. Calling it a trailer would make the reveal sound bigger than it is. Calling it a first look is enough: Disney has put the live-action Rapunzel, Flynn, and Mother Gothel in front of an audience, and people finally have a visual starting point for the conversation.
