Gina Rodriguez’s House of Guerrero has added seven new cast members as filming continues in California. Lisa Vidal, Aaron Dominguez, Jesse Garcia, Edwin Hodge, Emilio Rivera, Adam Rodriguez and Javon Walton join the boxing drama.
The film marks Rodriguez’s feature-film directing debut. She also co-wrote the story with Bernardo Cubría and plays Paloma, the older sister of boxer Alex Guerrero.
Who are the new cast members?
- Lisa Vidal plays Tia Lupe, Alex’s aunt.
- Aaron Dominguez plays Perico, one of Alex’s friends in El Centro.
- Jesse Garcia plays Diego, Alex’s therapist.
- Edwin Hodge plays Malcolm, the manager of Club Crave.
- Emilio Rivera plays Tio Turi, Alex’s uncle and Tia Lupe’s husband.
- Adam Rodriguez plays Ruben Chapa, a trainer at the local El Centro boxing gym.
- Javon Walton plays Alex in his earlier years.
Who leads House of Guerrero?
Carlos Sanson Jr. plays Alex, whose promising boxing career is cut short before he gets one last chance to return to the ring. George Lopez plays Alejandro, his father and a former fighter who supports his comeback.
Alex is grieving his mother, Elsa, played by Rosario Dawson. He asks Paloma, a skilled boxer herself, to become his new trainer and help him return to fighting.
Production is underway in Los Angeles and California’s Imperial Valley. Rodriguez also produces through I Can And I Will Productions, alongside producers from 1Community and Wayfarer.
